we converted Jack the 68 semi auto beetle to mostly early 60s exterior with old guards and deck lid
before
after !!! - lights and such to come
dropped spindles on and wheells rub - maybe new alloys with right offset
new ball joints. bearings'; tirod ends and disc rotas
coooool
Looking sweet Any more piccies?
i needed to replace discs bearings tie rod ends and ball joints ( ue most of the front end) so decided to add dropped spindles whilst i was there
unfortunately jacks 165 r 15 tyres rubbed even in a straight line
Tim j our fabricator cut out the centre of his stock wheels and rewelded with new offset to drag the tyre under the guards
then he painted the wheels gun metal grey
the front passenger floor pan and the battery tray floor pan were shot so tim replaced them
the bumpers are being left off
so the holes needed welding over
mmmmm pattina
one of the finishing touches to the body work was the early roof rack "donated" by a fella called Jeff from Aussie Vee Dubbers
tim fabricated a clamp system to hold this sucker on the roof without cumbersome suckers
do not worry
these brackets are made of steel and will soon get some nice surface rust to blend in with their environment
Tim J my fabricator - and great friend - seems very proud - and why wouldn;t you be?
Cool. The rack looks a lot better there than stuck in my back shed.
thanks for those racks Jeff
they really top lil Jack off
we gotta just rust convert and paint the remaining floors then add carpet; then rewire the lights and indicators; then lower the back
should be on the road soon!!!!
jack got his beam narrowed and on adjusters by Dirtbag aka Tim

this was cos no matter what we did the tyres still rubbed on the drop spindles and cos the narrowed look is cool
not far off the road now - just need to do some wiring on the lights and paint the floor and fix the seat frame - any how not far off the road
can;t wait to drive the semi auto rat to work
going rat look??? where are the front indicators? staying with that exhaust?
Nice combo, should be a good ride, hope to see you around the sunny coast sometime.
looks sweet dude!
thanks people
front indicators in a box - will fit once have treated all the surface under the bonnet and painted
we removed the exhaust tips short and polished them then refitted - will be running without bumpers
will stick with stock 1500 engine as it runs sweet at present - may upgrade later
photos later!
