G'day guys
I've just moved house & I found lots of old Pictures of my family when they first arrived in Oz. I thought I should share some of the vw pics as
they are pretty cool.
These are of my fathers oval, loaded to the tilt with guns & ammo, out the back of Bourke kangaroo shooting.
There's also one of my father fixing his oval on the streets of Erskinville after hitting a kangaroo.
Dad said that he had twin carbs, lightened flywheel & headwork in the little oval.
enjoy

Hi Jak
Cool photos, what did he have written on the decklid?
Steve
The Beatles.........................
Some more pics
71 Superbug, type 3 carbs, 74mm stroker crank, stock bore, reground cam, this had quite a name for itself around Orange as the little vw that ate v8's, wether it did or not is another thing.
This is the first & only beetle that my Father bought brand new, he said that he dropped a valve in the first 2 weeks & had it fixed under warranty. What he was doing to drop a valve in a new vw is anyones guess
I remember going up Mt Canobalas in Orange in the Snow in this car, all the other cars were bogged on the side of the road but we were the only ones that made it to the top!
very very cool. seems like he drives like you eh?
I always say that to him when we are out driving somewhere, his reply is that I should put some fuzzy dice on the revision mirror & move back to Marickville
Cool pics Jak
Cheers
D
Like father, like son. I remember that article a few years ago now Jak on your old man and your cars together.
Love the old pics of the oval . Being from out west myself , could only imagine the looks the boys would have gotten back in them days when they rolled into town !!
