You may have seen me posting WTB a 67 bug then I went to a 70 bug. Yesterday I picked up a 69 bug that i found on carsales.com.au.
The car is fairly original and clean although it does have upgraded type 3 brakes with discs on the front, a 1600 twin port motor, EMPI shifter and
new shocks.
The car also has Ford telstar bucket seats in the front.
I plan to keep it fairly stock looking except a new set of wheels most likely EMPI 8 spokes Falken 195 tyres, lowered front suspension and a whole new
interior.
Today I gave it a good clean and tinkered here (First thing to go was the demister on the back window) and there, next weekend will see a polish and
waxing
Tomorrow the car is off to Adam at Raw Auto Works for an assessment, tune up and some minor works so I can register it ASAP.
Long term plans are for a respray in the same colour and some work to the motor as well as new rubbers and a few accessories. I already have an order
ready to go at classic VW.
Here are some photos
Looks very nice well done, but please get some original front seats back in there cheers shane.
Thanks lol well at this stage the seats will stay and most likely recovered to a red vinyl but will keep your request in mind
cool, and the empis will look great
thanks yes just have to source a set of 8 spokes
Today I took my dub to Raw Auto Werks for servicing and a few fixes so it can be registered.
Adam and Mick did a fantastic job and went over my 69 and kept working until 8.30 pm tonight. If anyone lives in Sydney i highly recommend there work
and both are great guys.
As for what they charged me I am so happy with the cost and the workmanship. I will be returning the 69 in the near future for a new front beam, rust
repairs to the doors as well as a few other things.
thanks guys one very satisfied customer
Today I polished and waxed and installed the aussieveedubbers.com sticker
congrats on the new car....
and its great to hear of the great service provided by a company like Raw....you often dont hear about good service like that! Well done Adam and
Mick!!
by the way, your bug looks great after the polish and wax....I'll bet your arms are hurting now!!
Scarab (aka: Paul)
thanks Paul yes Adam and Mick did a fantastic job and the car will go back to them for some drop spindles and some minor rust work in a few months.
And i'll tell you how my arms feel in the morning lol
took the wife out for a drive today and she was quite impressed on how well Rosie drove and handled. We did around 60 km's today and she didn't miss
a beat (the car that is).
I dropped into Super Cheap and bought a replacement aerial and some new wipers, been a great weekend and lots of improvements to the car.
Good on ya mate
Scored quite nice deal there, do you own any other VW's?
Hope everything goes well and I'll be watching this thread
Ryan
Thanks Ryan yes I'm happy with my new baby (Rosie)
This is my second Beetle my first was 30 years ago when I bought my first car which was a 67 model.
Yesterday I was the guy in the super cheap auto advertisement that comes home with a car full lol except i left the new sound system behind until i
pay it off.
Next to occur is a new set of wheels and tyres then lowered front end. hopefully soon after a new interior then that it for a while
Thats a grate looking car! I love the old radio, But I also dont like the seats very much. It needs a stock interior.

Today I picked up my new plates, have changed the rego around just for a little security measure
I think I'm usually more partial to the look of Supers, but your bug (Rosie?) is just so pretty and clean!
Many people second look a beetle, but I'm sure I and most other people could stare at your bug all day
Cheers
thanks Ryan, she is coming along nicely considering i have only had her 4 weeks. I am really impatient for the wheels and tyres but have to wait until
July which will give me time to see my options for tyres at the Nationals next month.
I am also starting to wonder if i should get some different bars. I do like the clean look though.
Drove the car to pick up my new plates then do a little shopping, had a women next to me in the car park comment on how nice Rosie is lol. Came back
told my wife i had a chick magnet only problem is the chick was about 60 lol

Bonnet hinge and bracket repaired and rear axle seals replaced. All going well sound system in June and new wheels and tyres in July.
Nice clean car, but is it my imagination, or did the rear demister disappear?

Looks great
Maybe get some thin white walls or red walls to compliment the tyres like they did in the late 60's
Keep up the good work but +1 on changing the front seats

Hey man I didn't realise how beautiful Rosie is!
As I mentioned about the cd player in the dash, don't ruin her, put it in the glove box.
Hopefully our beetles get to ride next to each other one day.
Keep up the top work mate.
Thanks Mickey yes Rosie is pretty special. Hopefully over the weekend I will look for somewhere else to install the head unit maybe even under the dash or in the glove box
Installed the new sound system today i am really pleased with it. first song of course was "Whole lotta Rosie" ACDC
