Hey guys..

Well iv been posting like crazy on here and with with all you guys help finaly have my first VW in the garage...

Shes a 1967 type 3 1600 Notch.. this is one of the cleanest notches iv ever seen.. 100% stock standard down to the point of still having the paint stickers on the inside of the panels.. Its had 2 owners and for the past 4 years sat in a garage.. before that it pretty much sat in a garage most its life too.. its got around 50,000 Miles on the clock atm..

Plans include. Lowering, New wheels , overriders, clear indicators, A fully stealth stero install using all the best audio gear and a full alarm with central locking.. After all this has been done i will be looking into the Engine, Braking and the electrics.. 12 V conversion.. New headlights.. ignition etc.. And what ever else pops up down the track..

Vice that is a very nice Notch. It's like no other 67 1600 I've seen before, 1600 on the deck lid looks 67 but no mustache on the bonet and no over riders like a 1500 and an early interior. Lots of things make it look early to me but the body No. will tell you. That is a great looking car. Enjoy.

Yup thats why i had the big thread on 1500 and 1600 differences.. Would love to know how to read the VIN number and find out if you can link me.. Iv looked on the samba but couldnt make sence of it..

A good Aussie name like bluey

Vice Aussie cars have there own body numbering system. They changed to it some time in early 60s I think (some one will know). The 3rd digit in your body No. is the year. The No. is on the tunnel under the back seat. If it is a 67 it should have a 7, I think your car may have a 5.

Yup i checked that Burrelli.. Its defently a 7.. Looked under the seat and on the plate on the front..

How about that. I have read in 67 VW Australia made many unusual variations of the Type3 using up parts before the CKD kits came from Germany.
To me your car looks like a VW1500 from 65 in a lot of ways.
Things that I would look at are has it been repainted? If it has have someone taken the mustache off the front because I thought all 1600s had them.
Are there marks where over riders were? also thought 1600s had those. Why would any one take them off?
Wird 2 tone interior like early car but not the same I don't think. I would have thought 67s have single colour interior.
Your engine No. seems right for the year to me but I'm not 100% sure. The 1600 badge looks like one from 67.
In 67 they made something called an improved 1500 is this car one? Looks like a 1500 with 1600 engine. I assumed an improved 1500 would be like a 1500n from 66 with more chrome or something. I hope your car is how it came from the factory because if it is its COOL.

I had a 67 notch in the eighties that was the same as that only white(originally).
Wide five six volt but '67 pan numbers. Must have been CKD since it had "made in Western Gernany" on the front tag.
Same tail lights, reflectors, no mustash nor overriders, and VW1600 badge etc.
Mine had a dual port 1600, but cant recall f it was the correct numbers.
It began very rusty even in the eighties.

But yea its all origional as far as i know.. Never been painted.. still has the stickers from the factory from when it was painted..

Found some other cool stuff in the car as iv been looking over it.. Its seriously just been locked in a shed for most its life by the looks of it..

Thanks for that 1500S I have only been involved with Aussie Type3s from that era that are 66 fastbacks. I have been looking at too many German cars in mags and on the internet and was wrong in thinking that Aussie 1600 squares and notchs had the same stuff as my fastback. When ever I seen a car like that I,d think it was a 1500. Are you saying dual ports came out in late 67? Wow did not know that either.

So i take it 1500s you do still think shes a 67 ?? I was looking at that Racv tag i found inside her and it said expires in 73 and the membership years was 9.. would that mean member in 64 ?? its still got that same rego number on the car thats listed on that piece of paper ??

It's looks like a genuine 67 with what's on it. Certainly not a 64. Maybe the original owner had the RACV membership transferred from another vehicle??

Oh ok awesome 1500s.. I was really interested in its histroy as its soo origional.. So good to hear that the numbers and the model features match..

Now the big question guys.. What wheels should i be putting on her.. i was thinking either Brms or chrome Fuches.. Any ideas guys ?? also which size do you guys think..

Brms will bolt straigt on with correct size tyre , Fuchs u will need to convert the car to disc and change stud pattern (Like on grey car)
