Mitchell,
was looking at the paint scheme of your bus and then got distracted by your avatar
and noticed that if you were to spin that lady around 180 degrees, her assets are the same scheme as your bus:smilegrin:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but does that look like a VW emblem in the middle of the bikini?:lol:
Cheers
D

I saw that bus "in the flesh" on Sunday and it looked nothing like her, even if you turned your head sideways. There just wasn't any bounce.

Maybe some homeboy style "airbags" would be the go Mitch!:spin:

Regards,

Matt.

Had a visit from Keith the traveling VW upholstery expert and he did a wonderful headliner and wall paper install for me.
Nice Job Nice bloke highly recommend him especially if you are not near the big smoke.
No one from Port had the will or experience to tackle the job.
Keith came to the rescue on black beauty ( his mid 70s BMW 1000 ) all the way from Lismore.
I arranged with Mike from Sandy feet to have his done at the same time and put Keith up for a few nights.

Mine had never seen a headliner and was a prick of a job but it worked out very well in the end, Thanks Keith.

Here is a pic nearing completion with just a few more wrinkles to iron out
If you need him you can contact him on http://oldschooltrimmers.com.au/

waltermitty - March 3rd, 2013 at 05:57 PM

Been slack but some progress now
Finally got some time to spend on my 15 .
Got all the glass in and luggage rails etc.
started fitting up the TMI Brick red Mesh red interior.
Also bought some NOS hubcaps on samba they were comercials so I had them chromed. They are perfect.
Not that much to do so I should have her on the road soon :D

1966 type 3 - March 3rd, 2013 at 06:43 PM

waltermitty - March 3rd, 2013 at 06:50 PM

No sierra or savanah beige? but I cant tell the difference.
Mikes is the same i think the dirty rotten copy cat:crazy:

waltermitty - October 8th, 2013 at 10:08 PM

No although I live less than an hour from Old bar I did not go but I did spend the week end in a very kombi centric manner

Well after another ^ FUCKING MONTHS WAITING FOR PARTS PROMISED 3 WEEKS AWAY> sorry but the stuff around from Aussie resellers is amazing, continues and shits me tearless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Photos below include,
stripping and repainting seat frames.
springs were in good shape treated with rust converter all painted
WW Coco fibre seat pads were used and TMI upholstery kits.
Its important to cover the seat springs in a layer between the coco pads and the springs to stop the springs wearing through the seat pads,.
I used back less car carpet.
The coco pads fitted great.
Note be sure to match your middle seats with the correct upholstery there are two types of fold down flippers, across ( later and bay ) and straight forward early.
The TMI and WW matched very well a little care they fit very well.
dont forget to put some cards I used 3 mm MDF on the seat backs especially the middle and rear.

I was very fortunate to obtain some unobtainium IE matching 1963 only middle seat grab tube so that my restoration of the middle seat grabs with rechroming turned out first rate if I say so myself!

Love it, very nice. A 15 window would be my first choice also, but ideally with walk through
