hey guys i had a post ages ago where i started a restoration on my bug. but now cant find it. well the bug is finished and i used in my wedding. thought i should post some pics of it on here for you too see. hope you enjoy.
some more pics
a couple more
Somebody put a piece of carpet in the wrong place but other than that a very very nice looking beetle.
LOL, that bit i still got too glue in under foot well. ill do that on saturday. thanks heaps mate.
a bit about the bug. the body was taken off the pan. the
pan was stripped and painted then assembled with a 2
inch narrowed beam with disc brakes. and a close ratio
gearbox. the body was attended too next, with all rust
removed and good german metal put back in. i got rid of
the old bonnet and boot seal and fitted the mexican
style seals. smoothed chrome from the dash and made
my own gauge panel out of aluminium. then got rid of
roof lining clips and smoothed it off. car was prepped and
painted and then assembled. it was done in a 8 month
period. lots of hours after work and weekends. but im
glad its finished and now i can enjoy it. it is running a
1600tp at the moment until i finish the 2332cc engine to
go in. more pics soon.
Thats beautiful well done. Simple and clean.
Agreed. Nice
Planning on taking it down the strip I assume with that gearbox??
thanks heaps guys. i appreciate the compliments. yeah i will be taking down the strip.
Really timeless! Loving that bug a lot!
Hope the engine goes well, I'd love to see the progress on it.
Good luck

here is some wedding pics
there was my bug and we got doc to use his kombi aswell.
it was an awsome day and both cars looked great
Hey dude, awesome bug.
Curious, what state are you in? I'm about to buy my first beetle and love them run with no bumpers. I am in NSW and wondering if i'll get defected
for having no bumpers.
Love the car!
i'm in the process of fixing up my 66 in gloss white as well.
Not going to look as good as yours, (I'm going for that restored by an amateur on a shoe string budget look) but it is good to see an example of some
quality work to shoot for.
Congrats on the wedding as well!

Hey man, Congrats on the bug... and umm, wedding
looove the ride height. What mods did you do?
-2 inch beam, drop spindles or adjustable?
Looks clean and tuff
thanks heaps guys.
benjicon- im in melb. the t bars are illegal but i like them to much to worry about a defect.
t_tuffnut, i built this on a budget too i built it with the help of a couple of mates in my single car garage, body
work was also done at home then hi fill then i took it to a
painter to get it painted in 2pac. saved me alot of money
doing it that way. i think buying alcohol for mates was
more expensive. lol.
phoenix_dr- for the wedding i had 16inch fuchs and it was
low. a bit too low. i have a 2 inch beam with adjusters
and adjustable spring plates on the rear.
He man I was at your place most of the time. I remember the pizza and all that beer but i can't remember a beetle being built.
hey torcha hurry up and buy another bug. so i can help you build it and you can buy me beer. lol..
I told you that I'd buy that early that you have in your backyard. Or I could give you a beer for it.
Gotta love Cal-Look Beetles!
Gotta luv beer!
oh!... and great car.. congrats on the weddin'.
here is some pics of my newest ride. its a 73 type 3 wagon. i lowered it a couple of inchs and just enjoy driving it every day
dude awesome car, but you need to either lower the front more or jack the ass end up a bit so it has a bit of rake rather then taking off.
Great looking car but I also agree with scot70wagon, also love the beetle, the cal look looks great.
