Hey pplz,
This is my 2nd beetle.
Im 25 and also own a '64 with my Dad that we are re-doing the engine of.
This one was bought about 5 years ago and I love the convertible for the nice Perth summers.
I added a Carrera Kit from an old beatup vehicle after a year
This ended up with stripes and numbers:
The current situation is that its back off the road while my Dad and I rewire it.
Currently I have the standard of the vehicle + Radio (front and rear speakers) + ~12 undercar lights (lol) (blue/changing colours) + Front foggies
Have nearly rewired after the below pic (cleared out and sprayed front)
Have remade the dash panel to allow for a on switch + starter button + wireless immobiliser + all my light switches + horn!
Current situation:
-Need to remake interior. Need new seats and carpet + seatbelts.
Anyone have any clue where I would start looking?? (PERTH)!
[size=5]
Cheers for reading and any ideas welcome!
Hey Gangel... welcome to here.
The carrera treatment actually suits I think, but man... that wiring... good onya for tackling it !!!
Oh and btw - Herbie's definitely a 68 or later, rather than a 66...
hehe oops!!
Yeh the main part IS 68 (re: the oops) however, when the mechanic got to the engine + other bits and pieces when I put new engine in, he said most of
it was '66 and shouldnt be there!
So in the end, poor little bug-ger is a bit confused
Wiring is now at the stage of evertyhing standard is back in it.. now just my undercar lights, interior neons and foggies to go in.
BTW anyone know the foglight law? I was going to change them for "spotties" but I just want to see if i can even use them!!
Welcome mate
Herbie REALLY is confised - his number plate thinks he is a BUS
Good to see you getting stuck in

Cheers for the opinion. Im not a street bogan, but Im thinking towards driving lights for the pure face that I have the spaces on the bumper. Hence,
if I have them, may as well have them plugged in, however they will be attached to my undercar lights which come on ~5 times/year LOL
Cheers for the info helbus and ty for the comments Bizzare

hmmmm
that does put my in a fix then RE: the last response.
As I said, I'm really after something to fill the gaps that may as well be plugging in and a bit "showy" rather than actually required.
Perth doesnt get fog...!
Any idea which i should go for?
It would be illegal to drive with normal driving lights without highbeam?
I always see sports cars just plodding about with their foggies/driving lights ONLY and no headlight. Is is just that they arent getting caught?
As far as I know, the only auxiliary lights which can legally be switched on separately from the headlamps are fog lights, and even then fog lights
may only be operated in hazardous weather conditions. Some of my friends with modern cars have been pulled over by the police and cautioned about
having fog lights switched on in good weather. Basically, if your headlamps are off and there is no fog or driving rain, then you should not have any
lights on.
Here's an interesting article on driving lights also. http://autospeed.com/cms/title_Fitting-Xtra-Lights/A_110476/article.html
The article explains what I was talking about before regarding spread beam and pencil beam driving lights.
ya ok. cheers for the help.
Ill prob leave the same ones i have in there and just hook them up separately for the rare rare situation of the bad weather. No point getting new
ones
Thanks a lots waveman, needed that info!
