Hi guys, i thought i would show you my first dub that im currently building....
I pick it up from a old lady's back yard on the 10 of september 2010. it was in an average state when i got it but spent some time to clean it up.
Ill post photo's as i go but a full lot of photo's is able to be viewed on my facebook link http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=250046&id=722320694&l=31812e1bb6
these are the photo's of the car as a got it
So thats what i found from there i struggled to load it onto a car trailer with 3 of the 4 drum brakes seized on, also haveing borrowed a car trailer
with no winch made my day
once home i started by cleaning it up, high preasure wasing inside and out, i pulled the guards off and degreased the whole lot, buy the end of that
it look like such.......
once i had it to this stage i had to decide what do do with it, in the end i found a chead EA81 motor for $150 with under 100k on it, so that made
that decision easy. i got that and a conversion kit for volksconversions and once i had a power plant my mind changed to stopping it. i decded that
due to funds i would put disc brakes on the front but leave the rear as drums, i also though at this stage i would lower the front with drop
spindle.
From here it gets a bit boring, the photo's are on the other link for this part. I set about cutting the rust out of the body and sills, luck there
wasnt to much, most of it in the sills, drivers side door and in the back wheel arches.
i set about patching and filling the areas and the knocking the roof back into shape. Decided on a colour scheem and sent to off the the spray
shop.
5 weeks later i got it back and have for the past week have started to put it back together, running new wiring, and so on.
So because of the rain today i thought i would put up some photo's to show my progress and see what peoples thoughts are.
So thats progress so far, i have set myself a date of the 20th of feb tohave on on the road. so that i can get to Dubs at the pub. thats the goal
anyway, there is just a fair bit of work to do before that to. the carpets are on order tho and the roof lining should be done this week, but still my
list seams to be growing.
so let me know what u think.......
wow that was a quick build, whats up with that funky front wheel well area?

wow! a lotta work in a short time but with what it started like it's a credit to you, one of a kind!
Wow you don't mess about, takes most people years to get that amount of work done, especially with so much front quarter panel damge on both sides
Looks like granny did a national lampoons and drove down a narrow alley and got stuck
Big ups, you've done an awesome job
Good to see an aussie standard model getting some love
well i know the story behind all that damage, the people i got it off owned it from new, but back in 1986 her husband was coming homefrom work down a hill when he lost all breaking, there was a set of traffic lights at the bottom that had 2 cars stopped side by side and he thought that he could fit between them rather than run up the back......... it didnt fit, so from that day it go parked up in the yard........ untill i got it........
Great story, good on yer for giving it a second life!....does it have a name?

For a car that has sat out in the elements for 25 years that thing is incredibly solid, it was obviously nowhere near the coast.
Anyway there it is, more proof of what I've been saying for years, that the late standards only had silver bumpers and hubcaps, all the handles and
strips were still chrome.
Yes!
Excellant work in getting another old bug back on the road.
So after finially getting this bug on the road, its off again, turns out the panel Beater that i payed to paint it is a dodge bastard and the paint
has started to bubble, looks like mico blister, little bubbles of rust forming under the paint, so for the second time in a year its being striped
back to bare metal to get repainted at a differnt shop...... ill try to update the page as i go, but his weekend it has been striped back and the
paint removed off the front quaters and deck lid.
the goal is to have this bug back and on the road for the september 11 show at wynum....... so at some point i may be asking for some help to put it
together.
So here are some photos, first are what it looked like and then what im doing at the moment, ill try to get some photos tomorrow of the problems im
talking about.....
So as an update, the panels are being sent off to the sand/soda blasters to get blasted and etch primed and the body is being striped this weekend so it to can be blasted in an attemp to stop the rust coming back through the paint, so by monday i should have some photo's of the panels back in there primer.
