monkney - January 24th, 2011 at 02:50 AM

Hi, just joined and thought I'd show some pics of my bug.

It's going to be a traditional cal look style but with a slight twist on the theme!. have got 67' (one year only) doors and decklid and also pre 67' bonnet. Twist is Subaru ej20 N/A engine with kennedy adapter, 4" wider rear wings and 4" narrower front beam. Wheels are 18" Mazda RX8 wheels fitted with 225 40 18 up front and 235 50 18 out back!.

the empi style scoops are going to look great. where is the radiator going? Also have you checked the frt wheels will fit with the 4" cut??

cam070 - January 24th, 2011 at 09:03 PM

Sounds very interesting. Looking forward to seeing more of this build thread.

Radiator is going in spare wheel well - I've got a small radiator, so will hopefully be able to fabricate a small scoop under the front valance and direct air from horn grilles as well.
Heres a shot of the beam - to fit the wheels on I'm running 5 x 100 discs/drums with 1" adapters (5 x 100 to 5 x 114.3)
http://i1100.photobucket.com/albums/g411/shrek33/frontbeam001.jpg
Fitted the beam up before it was narrowed to see how it looked, then decided on what was needed to fit the wheels within the std wings - 4inches!!!
http://i1100.photobucket.com/albums/g411/shrek33/frontbeam002.jpg
If I'm honest - the turning circle is pretty poor, but prob not much different than anyone else who's running narrower beam. Things might change though as with this set up I can change wheels easily with quite alot of choice:starhit::starhit::starhit:

That pipe work is fantastic!
Some others I've seen are a real 'I've left this to last' project, slapped together, catch on anything, utter shambles.
Keep up the tiidy work.

68AutoBug - February 13th, 2011 at 04:51 PM

Nice work. Looking forward to seeing it come along.

Lee - why is there a picture of your car that we've seen many times before in someone elses build thread?

monkney - February 13th, 2011 at 10:24 PM

Cheers lads :tu: - Body is now back on "again" so I'll be updating as I go along ;)

Half way through fitting the Radiator :spin:

http://i1100.photobucket.com/albums/g411/shrek33/radno2.jpg
Still a bit of work to do as in, make a front cover & lower scoop which will also flow the air through the rad and finish the bottom of the radiator housing.

monkney - March 12th, 2011 at 03:04 AM

Finally made a bit more progress on the radiator mounting :)

And started to refurb wheels - fronts are really a bit too wide being 18 x 8" so they will be getting narrowed!

Ditto. You also don't need a watchdog to protect an automatic.

It's like a trampoline with a net around it. Lame
