Howdy all,
Thought I would post up some pics of my 63 Beetle that has undergone a freshen up. It did not need a full resto, keen on keeping it pretty much as it
is. Purchased it in late 2009 after it had been sitting in a shed on a farm for 5 or so years. Good original car with the usual amount of wear and
tear for a car of its age. Obviously as the deconstruction takes place, little surprises crop up but alas, these things are simple to work on so away
I went. Had a mate help me with the body work and mechanicals. A few pics of the process - have heaps more but hoping the following gives you a
snapshot.
As it came:

To be expected - usual suspect!

chop chop, bang bang

About 20 similar repairs around guards

Scuttle off - rust in corners of windscreen as well as the channel that holds the bonnet (boot) rubber in place. Got a complete donor scuttle and
replaced it to half way up the outer skin of the windscreen pillars

Outer skin of door pillar replaced - decent wack in this area in its previous life so was a little out of shape. Out with old, in with new.

Motor out

Gearbox out

Clean - years of crud gone!

Paint - poor compression so heads off and recoed - new valves, seats, guides and rings. Of course pushrod tubes and seals all new.

Gearbox paint, new boots and nylock bolts - original untouched box.

More bodywork, cleaning etc.How much grease........

Assembly - fast forward a few months!

Lower doors shagged - donor thanks to an early fatty

12V conversion - motor back in all nice and tidy

At Day Of 2010 - not finished still but driveable

Looking to get it regoed in the coming month - at a mates place getting some bits and pieces sorted out. Turn my efforts to the interior shortly -
lookin to go OG blue with white piping on seats and door cards to match. OG headliner looks rad! Will post up more when I get a chance and as
progress happens.
Cheers boys and gals.
