After my baptism of fire earlier this year as VW newby taking on a Ghia as my first ever car project I have moved on started my second.
"The Tassie Ghia"
With the bodywork already done the pan needed a lot of cleaning and some paint.
After much confusion I installed a front disk brake kit with drop spindles and narrowed adjustable beam.
Starting to get it back together just had to track down a front trans mount as I found this is a 1960 and of course the mount is different to all
other models.
After lots of reading on the net I now know that it has a long axle gearbox (thank god for The Samba) , just deciding whether to change back to short
axles to accommodate bigger tyres on the rear.
Excellent stuff
Well done
Looking sweet and I bet your glad now the first attempt didn't put you off.
Keep up the good work and keep the photos coming.

loving the persistance and determination. should be good in the end.
Starting to take shape now Ash. Glad to see it moving on rather than sit forever in my shed. volma1
wow what a mission.
went with a short axle change only to find the gearbox was rooted so in went another box and the short axles went with it.
Disk brakes on the front with drop spindles and narrowed beam, new tie rods and king and link pins. Once a novice now a novice that's done a bit.
More cleaning and bling for the motor plus all new cables, exhaust, compufire, weber and rubbers.
Time for the body to reunite with the pan.
Next challenge is to sort out the wiring, fire up the engine and send her off for a fresh coat of paint.
Still hoping to be cruising around before xmas.
Starting to her back together after the new paint job. Still a fair way to go but the finish line is in sight.
