Hi all,
New on here but thought I would share some pics & info on my custom '62 Squareback. It's LHD & orginally came from Sweden & was bought
to the UK then restored to how you see it today by Chris Palomba. It won numerous awards over there & I am lucky enough to now call it mine. I
imported from the UK early 2010 & enjoy cruising in it every spare sunny day I can. I just love it.
I am not capable of such amazing restoration work & nor do I pretend to. I just love early Squareback's. I used to own a '73 Squareback from
about 1997 till 2001 & always wanted to get a VW again. Very happy with my purchase.
Here are some specs on it below...
Complete off the chassis re-build, every nut and bolt replaced and renewed.
Big Performance 2017cc American turn-key engine with twin 441dfs with electronic ignition - 121bhp and 128lb/ft torque.
Pro-Flyer gearbox with welded gears and rhino mounts.
House of Colour paintwork - 20 layers from bare metal.
Full/detailed leather interior (5 cow hides used).
Boyd Coddington wheels.
Disc brake conversion - front and rear.
Torque bar.
Full flow oil cooler with manual fan.
6 inch narrowed beam with drop spindles (at it's highest in pics).
Short shaft conversion on rear.
New wiring loom.
Bottom inner 12 inches - '3M' rubberised during re-build.
1000 watt amp with 6x9 speakers - ipod and computer connections.
Thanks & hope you like it.
...and what it looked like before Chris got his hands on it.
lovely car
I saw this at Action Day!
I really want a Squareback now! I spent a good 15 minutes looking around it.
Hi.. I had a look at the car at Action Day. Very nice custom.
I also remember looking at the 73 at Browns Plains BMX track back in the day when I used to ride bowl a bit.
Or have i got things all mixed up?
I saw this car at Wynnum, and had to be careful not to drool on it! It's a brilliant example of an updated Type3

Awesome car. I remember looking at this at the shows over in the UK - think it was Volksworld show that I first saw it. If I recall I believe it used to be a panel van originally. Think I still have the Volksworld feature somewhere.
