Dubcycle Cruiser
DubbyFan - April 16th, 2012 at 09:35 PM

Can't have a VW at present and been into cutting up pushies for sometime so have gone
for a V-Dubified pushie!

So after crusing around the net checkin out a few cool Dubs found a few with the overkill
accessory theme going down. So that's where I am trying to get, sort of the over done VW
theme. She does have an engine in the rear, who ever is riding her, aircooled by the wind
and as you will see very much Dubberfied!

Started with a cruiser frame laid back the seat post, filled in the gap at the front with some scrap tube.

http://i40.tinypic.com/16ay2pw.jpg http://i42.tinypic.com/142sco5.jpg
Buffed back to bare metal ready for bondo (filling) and priming.

Bit of a jump to paint went for gloss black decided it was too much so added a splash of red flash trim,
looks candy but is red, just wanted to break up the black.

So a bit of detail, fake tank a bit of painted plywood, light an outside garden light modded with
a cheapy torch inside and it works. Light stand an old 1100 cc VW intake manifold section cut
down and inverted. Flying VW emblem had for years one of my prized processions, pretty rare
only Aussie VWs works well on a pushie and Wolfsburg bonnet badge.

The guards a damaged 60's Beetle bumper, cut the good ends off mega chrome VW guards.
Took a bit of tweaking as they are not even top and bottom, good thing is you only really
notice this from front on.

First serious test ride today standard cruiser in background with added stowage added and more VW stuff.

Now what's all this, well a fruit basket with a 60's beetle tail light, VW bonnet script and two
tappet covers off my bush found 1100cc engine. While they maybe a bit too much they are used.
The clip wires used to hold the tappet covers onto the engine are perfect to hook a bungee
to hold the gear you stow! Buffed off then sprayed flat, can't really see it but great patina.

I have had the NSW plate for a while, thinking about painting it to VWRide would be pretty easy.

http://i40.tinypic.com/34ya9nn.jpg http://i43.tinypic.com/1088il4.jpg
Chucked a bit of VW script on the chain guard, as i said over done VW everywhere!

Big shout out to Matt Ryan who gave me a couple of 60's bumpers and whatnow for selling me
a couple of bits and pieces for a fair price.

You shouldn't have cut up that bumper, it could have been the start of sending one over bit by bit.:lol::lol:

Regards,

Matt.

Fahrvergnugen, I think I have got it bad, no VW in the shed but got this thing if I need a fix. So have taken her to the next level, she's getting a bit weighty, definitely a show pony!
http://i43.tinypic.com/21bpr4o.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/28mdcaf.jpg

So to go with my flying VW added a Split Kombi indicator lens for headlight, 61 Beetle indicator for fender light, sill mirror and 60's steering wheel.
http://i40.tinypic.com/143old2.jpg http://i43.tinypic.com/28bz992.jpg

Put a lid on the rear basket and dressed her up with late Kombi badge, Beetle Script, the latch is from my 74 Bay I had and scored some 50/50 tail lights to go with the Ghia tailight.

Thanks to Kev, Paul, Andrew, Mike and anyone who I have missed who have sold or given me bits to help create this beast.

Looks like you may have to much time on your hands. Might have to have a word to Barry ;)

Tell me, is there a battery in that basket so the tail lights work at night.

And it crazy to ride with a steering wheel.

You may not have a VW in the garage, but look at your back drop. I wouldn't be complaining

Kev

DubbyFan - December 15th, 2013 at 08:04 PM

Yep Kev the father-in-law thinks I'm nuts! Steering wheel works better than you would think, she's pretty heavy with all the gear on her. Have cheapy torchs in the Ghia tail light and Kombi headlight, may go 12 volts down the track and get the indicator glowing as well, hey thanks for your contribution, I'm grateful!

Camo - December 15th, 2013 at 08:13 PM

With all the extra weight, you might need to stroke that front crank for a little more torque :starhit::starhit::starhit:

Or just build up the leg muscles a little :yes::yes:

Your welcome re my contribution, sorry I was a bit slack (as usual) re my steering wheel. But you have an older one now anyway
