Hi all,
The '64 will have the restoration process started tomorrow !!!! After I move a few things around so I have space to put the body once its lifted off
!!!! I wont be able to go too nuts as yet due to a possible chassis number problem as discussed in the new member section I am sure everything will be ok but I need to be sure before I pour too much
money into this.. Will post up pics of the old girl before I start so her progress can be tracked
Dane
Good luck ... it is a journey ...so is life ... so enjoy!
Some pics finally !!!! As it was when it arrived here !!!
more
some more
........ 3 more !!!!
In her new home resting peacefully before being stripped Last pic is of my engine dolly I made !!!
Dolly needs work as you can see the castor top was too wide making it impossible to fit the trolley jack in....... Need to weld new mounting feet for the swivel castors :/
Finally got started today !!!!!! Pulled the motor and have a new list of things that need attention....
The two top bolts for bellhousing are wrong..... The tinware is pretty tired and will need replacing.... I will need to replace decklid hinge bolts as
no two are the same !!!
Accel cable has been bodged up and the point that the cable attaches to both heater boxes is missing.....
Also the input shaft for the transaxle feels really sloppy as well !!!
The drain channel will need replacing as will these wings... Can anyone tell me where the tubes are supposed to run ?????
Good Luck with your project. First item to change is the fuel filter location unless you want all your hard work going up in flames. The weight of the filter full of fuel over bumpy roads pulls the hose or the brass insert out of the carby and sprays it all over the distributor. Oxygen + Fuel + Ignition = tears My2c
Thanks heaps Luftmeister will do....... Yeah engine fire would not be fun at all !!!!!
Rear fenders are now off and will remove the fronts after dinner
Want to be at the stage where I am ready to lift the body by the weekend.... Wont lift it off till after I get back from a 5 weeks trip to sea
though... So first week of December the body will be off and then let the fab work commence !!!!!
Areas that need attention found today....
1. One of the nutserts had broken away.... Wont be too hard to repair, Just wont look original with the plan I have !!!! Wont be rough and cant be
seen though...
2. I also have found a rust hole in the body that will be cut out and a new bit of steel welded in its place....
3. The very rear of both heater channels have a small hole in them too.... Thinking of welding in a patch here too..... Thoughts ?????
4. The lips on the bottom right at the rear of the fenders are a bit wafer thin..... Will try and hunt down some wrecked fenders to cut the bits I
need off to repair mine...
Otherwise Im having fun and spend hours dreaming about how cool this will look when its done
Here are some pics of the hole I missed on inspection due to a nest that was over the top of it !!!!!
Last pic is of the fender lips that have seen better times......
Add a repair to the left hand rear bumper mount It will need a replacement panel I think.....
Back from sea at last !!!! Busy few weeks.... Gotta go to a different boat now till just before Chrissy..... No rest for the wicked..... Will hopefully get a chance to get some work started again soon !!!!! Still hoping to have the body off before the big fella in the red suit comes
