2013 Polo
amazeer - September 25th, 2012 at 10:49 PM

It has taken me 2 years to get this car. After 2 years of arguing with lease companies, arguing with dealers, arguing with the wife, poor dealer experiences with not being possible to test drive the car I want, arguing with the wife, arguing with dealers re the hideous option prices, arguing with the wife.... it is HERE!

Only it is here 6 weeks early. My lease is due to start November 15 on my estimated delivery date but the dealer either stuffed up, or the found me a cancelled order. So now when I look out of my office window I can see it about 200m away in the holding yard. So near yet so far. Actually I cant see it, because of an awkwardly placed tree, but I can see the car park.

Anyway, here tis. MY2013 77tsi. Comfort Pack, Sports Pack, and yet to be fitted factory/dealer fit body kit.

The new polo's seem to win every "best car under $20,000" test so they must be allright. My sons polo has been 100% reliable and has done mega miles so it will be interesting to see how the new model holds up over time

I dont really go by the awards. The polo gti has won a lot of awards for best bang for your buck and they have a LOT of issues with excessive oil consumption and dsg problems. The number of engine replacements on the watercooled forum is pretty bad. The 118tsi twincharged engine has won lots of awards but it has also had issues. That engine is being discontinued in the Mk7. I'm hoping the manual shopping trolley version will give me no problems. When they arent in for servicing all of the polos and golfs are fantastic cars. I've driven every model I think except the polo gti and love them all. People who arent VW enthusiasts might have a point they arent value for money but I'd take them all in manual form.

I'm back to slagging VW dealers. Lease company said I can bring my lease forward, payroll says I can bring it forward, I just have to get a date from the dealer. The delivery guy wont call me back. Would have been good to have it for the long weekend, but then that was probably never going to happen.

Nice- enjoy, they are great cars.

I have the GTi and yes, they replaced the clutches in the DSG box at 15,000kms and I am keeping an eye on the oil as it does seem to drink a bit BUT damn, I love the car!

Its a pity that you dont have it delivered already amazeer, you could run it in by driving up to warwick and then race it .......

Got it moved to October 12 :)

amazeer - October 13th, 2012 at 12:26 AM

Its October 12 (or was). After a bit of a paperwork Mexican standoff I picked up the car today. Dealer wouldnt release the car until they had lease paperwork. Lease company wouldnt supply paperwork until they got confirmation that the car was ready to pick up. I was trying to explain that the dealer would never release a car to me that they didnt have, but that was a little too much logic. Anyway after about 5 phone calls and 4 hours, this is the result.... needs lower springs on the back. Hope I stop looking at that soon.

Very nice amazeer, nothing too over the top but nicer than a kia rio or similar. Does that model require 98 or 95 octane?

I own a driving school and we've got a tdi in manual and dsg, sure a little bit more to buy, but not much more than an i30. However, the Polo's leave any small car ive driven for dead. I sit in these cars, 12-14 hours a day, i do over 100ks a year, and after 18 months they still feel like brand new.

Our last cars were suzuki swifts and the were very tired at 18 months 80ks, the Polo's just feel run in.

I save a small fortune in fuel economy, and cost of dealer servicing is very similar in price.

The manual has been 100% reliable, never had an issue, except pre delivery was pretty slack.
The dsg did go at 70ks, but was replaced under warranty within 10 days, the dealer was fantastic, VW assist was very very ordinary.

Value for money, quality for money, i wouldnt buy another car, prefer tdi over tsi simply for fuel, but wife has a tsi tiguan, and its an amazing car.

Story about Volkswagen assist, dsg died in mullumbimby, called VW assist who arranged NRMA to attend. I spoke to dealer where the car was purchased and serviced and we agreed NRMA would get there in 45 mins and arrange a tow truck, so i rang VW assist back and asked to skip the wait and get truck asap as this was costing me money. They agreed, said i wanted the car towed to Tweed European (James Frizelles VW) which is 30 mins drive, VW assist said no, has to go to nearest dealer which they said was Northern Rivers VW Lismore(James Frizelles VW as well) which is 50 mins drive. But is closer in Ks... we argued for 10 mins, finally i said how many ks, ill pay the difference. have a guess how many ks? 1K... thats it 1k, i asked the woman to put me onto someone else, i wasnt talking to her any longer, next person agreed to send to tweed, thats my 1st experience with VW assist.

2nd experience, after the dsg replacement, car came back and had some paint rubbed off just at bottom of front guard, was obvious rubbing, was only small, but pissed me off. Both the dealer and another tow truck operator agreed it was from a tow strap. Rang VW assist, they said it was NRMAs problem and that i should contact them. But i refused and said i rand VW assist and you organised the tow, you ring and fix the problem. They argued and said no, they didnt tow the vehicle. I asked if VW assist have tow trucks, they said no, i said well of course you contract out towing but you organised it, you fix the problem, lots of arguing and finally after speaking to a manager, they sorted the issue and will be fixed.

Gave it a wash today and took it on a photoshoot.
I'm so paranoid about this car. I dont think I have parked it within a metre of any kerb lol. And when I parked at the far end of the shopping centre today (where nobody parks except at christmas peak) only to come out and find some beaten up shitbox parked right next to me I had a panic attack. I am supposed to be working this weekend but sharing pics of my love instead.

Ummm I'm 42 years old, I wear my cap facing forward. Even at this height I need to go slowly on an angle up my driveway. The front height is OK for my demographic, the rear could go down another inch. That would make the rear look better and slightly more clearance on the front spoiler. I dont know why the sports kit doesnt give it an even stance.

Ummm I'm 48 years old, and I dont wear a cap so im not in the demographic you think. Yes there are practical reasons for not going low, I suppose I just like things less conservative. It still going to look neat.
