59 Beetle

I have been running a 55 beetle for a while down here (NZ) and did a best of 12.43 seconds.

I toasted the 2443 engine, and started thinking going turbo time. I bought some 4" stuff in the US and had it sent to Marty Staggs to build an engine and intake system for the car. It all got a bit out of control from there, ended up buying a dry sumped 84 x 101.6 Pauter engine, moldex crank, angle ports by geers with crower rocker set up etc... This was going in an unlimited street car up there, but never completed. The block was built to run 1000 ish HP, Im only looking for 5-600.

I was planning on using the car that I had and doing a ton of work to it. The pics show the car I bought out of the UK with everything done for a fraction of what it wouldve cost me to get my car sorted here. Car is on the water now, here 27 december, cant wait for Chrissy Holidays !!

The overall plan, keep it street legal, run a 9.

Im pretty positive I will be able to make it street legal. Needs a handbrake, wipers installed, and some wider front rims and street treads. There is some fairly wild stuff that is street legal here in NZ, just a matter of doing it right and using race sympathetic inspectors to get there...

The other major Ill need to work through is the seating as I am quite a bit taller than the previous owner.

Under bonnet shot.... The car looks as good in real life as the photos. It was built in 2008, so has a few little nicks but overall the build quality is pretty mindblowing. All credit to the builders !!

Slow progress but getting there. Seat is well on the way to done (I fit !!).... Anyway a bit more engine porn... Exhaust done, turbo mounted... Hopefully engine will be completed in the next month or so....
