I NEED some helpful advice about my carby and airfilter, PLZ!
Brynus - February 7th, 2006 at 06:22 PM

I have a 1973 VW Superbug and it still has the big crappy looking airfilter on it and i was wondering if there was a better sort of airfilter that would fit right and look a lot better and not cost too much?

If anyone has any ideas please reply,

Thank u

These air filters are kind of useful as they help the choke operate correctly, esecially on cold mornings. Being in on the Gold coast you might get away with it though! If you get a replacement make sure it has a connection for the oil breather (or get an external one) and you will have to block off the hole in the tinware where the warm air pipe goes otherwise hot exhaust air will get into your engine bay. There are plenty of aftermarket ones around that will fit, go to a VW place or get and EMPI or similar catelogue, they have a bunch in them.

just dont throw the original away if you want to sell the car later it would look better in its original form
