Hi

beetles have chassis numbers located under the rear seat in the centre next to the oval plate..

and engine numbers on the engine...

1955- chassis numbers: 781885 to 1060929
1955 engine numbers: 945527 to 1277347

I don't know of any listings by body numbers...

cheers

The annoying thing is that its on a 60's pan, and the engine is from a superbug... i can't find body number's anywhere...

Hi
I can see Your problem...

chassis number is only for the chassis...
NOT the body....

so the body has an oval window...

1960s chassis...

late 1600 twin port engine...

I cannot really help...

I don't know of any way to tell what year the body is...

maybe a photo of the dashboard ... and someone knows something..???

cheers

I thought of that but thought it may have been changed too..
so, Your car is a 1955 model....

sometimes there are date stamps behind the dash etc..
and they are on wheels too..
but wheels get changed etc..
plus You have a different chassis... lol
