Hi all, looking to buy my first bug.

Greeting gents, I'm currently looking to change up my current vehicle for a beetle so I thought I would join and say hi.

still trying to figure out what I would like, it seems the later models go much cheaper than the early stuff but I'm not relly bothered about the year, I'm trying to decide between a regular beam suspension type or a superbug with struts.

leaning towards beam atm but we'll see where this goes :)

Welcome aboard. It might pay to drive the different models to help decide which way you want to go as both types have their strengths and weaknesses.

My reasoning for deciding between the 2 types is actualy quite strange.

my reasoning for wanting the superbug is because with the different floor in the front the tyre lays flat instead of upright in the front, which would make for ideal and unique seating at the old school drive in movie nights lol, however I'm not quite sure how much work is involved in slamming them on the ground like the beam front ends.

Also if your quite clued in on air suspension laws, you can actually get away with airbagging a beam type suspension legally. So long as the original suspension is set up not to exceed the minimum allowed ground clearance then the bags fitted are actually considered helper springs and are not the sole support point of the vehicles suspension. Thats where it gets so difficult for other types of vehicles because the original springs must be removed to make way for the airbags leaving no safeguard should the airbag fail.

silly reasons I know but hey, I'm not quite normal in the head.
