howdy! first post! I'm stoked to find this site. I am currently w/o a VW but I am going to change this soon. Going for a kombi/bus/bay, we'll see. As a matter of fact, what is the diff between, microbus, bus, bay, kombie, i get the splitty thing, that's a bit obvious. My first car when I was 16yrs old(that was a while ago), was a 75 Karmann body, superbettle, convertible, loved it, still love 'em...but i now have a family, dog, etc and need a second car...so...figured what better excuse to get a bus?! I have learned heaps from reading the posts and wanted to join...so here i am. I live in Kingscliff and looking for best VW mechanics around, have heard about Stokers Siding?, any others, and any clubs, seems like there is one in Byron, any shows or mettings or swaps in this area? Anyway, i have lots of questions but will wait to drain yalls brain latter!:beer:beer

thanks! nice to feel welcomed. how do i find robo, do you mean a member on this site that i should contact? Judy, thanks, i sent you an email, let me know if i am doing this correct. I am looking for safe bus. I have 2 young kids, one that will need to be in a child/baby seat for another year or so. Can a bolt be placed that will pass inspection, and are there certain/any models that have cross belts in the back seats? I must also confess, that I am unlikely to be the commited DYI VW owner, so I need the easy way out...one that has had all the hard work done, or one that can have all the hard work done for me...no rush...by the best people around. I 'll be happy to tinker and learn, but I need a big head start!!

I don't like to suggest mechanics as I am likely to be accused of being biased (my brother works for one of the VW mechanics on the Gold Coast). Best advice I can give you is to talk to people and see who they use. There is a fairly good chance that people will be happy to suggest businesses that they are happy with - and just as quick to suggest businesses that, perhaps, havn't done the right thing by them.

I am a member of the Gold Coast Dub Club - which is based on the Gold Coast (er..that was a little obvoius wasn't it!:P ), there are heaps of clubs around in this area so I'm sure that they would all agree if I said take the time to meet with them and join the one (or two or ....) that you feel that you will enjoy the most. Have a look around on the forum and I think you will find at least one member from each of the local clubs wandering around in here!
