g'day everyone,
just signed up today !!! Proud owner of a 66 splitty. I'll try to get some pics on here soon.
That's a classy entry for a new Dubber! Good on you! Is it a project? Or is it a work of art already?
Oh, and "welcome" by the way!
a bit of a project I guess you could say, when we bought it, the floor was completely rusted out and has needed a whole new floor as well as a chassis. But she runs like a dream and the body is in sensational knick. Working now on getting the inside fixed up. Its a bloody addiction, isn't it !!
Addiction is right, its the purest kind!
Welcome to the site and would love to see the pics
cheers
ned

Hi Julie-Ann,
Welcome to the wonderful world of Vee Dubs.
:thumb
Welcome to the forum........great to see another girl on here with a splitty!Where abouts in Melbourne are you from?
You'll have to bring your splitty along to some of the events we have down here.....:thumb
Hey splittychick, I'm from the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Let me know about any events, and I'm there !!
You guys sure know how to make someone feel welcome !
i still see no pics.... :cry
you know lams, for someone who works with computers all day I must admit I don't know how to attach a photo to this site. I only have dial up at
home and everytime I try to send a picture as an attachment it takes hours....so I have to bring my digital camera to work and try to do it here,
without getting sprung of course, and do you think that I can remember to bring my camera to work???? hmmm.
maybe tomorrow.
and Im still just getting used to how to use this forum. I must sound like a moron. hahaha
yay more melbourne ppl!
the attachment cannot be over a certain filesize, cant remember what size though. edit it so that its smaller, and/or use photoisland or something,
thats what i do.
welcome welcome, everyone does make u feel so welcome here. good to see another splitty on the road, i'll be looking out 4 you............. wheres the pics???
Once You know how, its easy.....
up till then.... bloody pain in the neck...

I'll keep playing and see if I can do some more....
Nope unfortunately not working.Says theres an error & we're not the owner of the album!

try that one.
Yah....it works.I love it,great colour.
You know what the most exciting part is looks like yours was a panalvan & now has windows just like mine.I've been asking around & haven't
been able to find anyone else that has one like this so i can get a feel for what it looks like in good condition(mines not painted yet).Is yours
rego'd yet??
From what I understand, the side windows are original....the people who we bought it off told us it was an ex Post Master General Kombi.
We were thinking about painting it white over orange, but have decided that when we paint it, it will be how it is now, just a two pack finish.
At the moment we are waiting on the rwc to come thru, so keep your fingers crossed that it'll be on the road next week......yaaaaaay.
The windows look alot smaller than all other splittys i've seen, they usually come up to the level of the top of the door.
Anyway it looks great, good luck with the rwc & if you get it on the road by the 3rd of Oct you should bring it for a cruise down to the VW swap
meet at Bacchus Marsh.
Theres also a cruise down Chapel St later in Oct.

I really don't know to be honest, I'm only going on what other people have told me, as I'm no expert....I'm sure that there will be plenty of
people on this forum who would know for sure...I'm just not one of em !!!!
The plan is to definetly come to the Bacchus Marsh swap meet, I need to buy a rear seat for it. And wiper blades, any ideas where I can get wiper
blades ?
I'll post some more pics of the floor when we got it, it was as rusted as they come !
I love it because I have only ever seen two other splitty's on the road, one of which belongs to a friend, and when you are driving it, everyone and
I mean everyone has a look. I've had truckies slow down and give me the thumbs up on a freeway!
I'm no expert either Julie Anne & when i bought mine had no idea that the windows weren't original & as i've told everyone else "i don't
really care coz i love my bus & to me shes perfect how she is!!"
Its a great feeling isn't it.....can't wait to get mine on the road.:thumb
Check out the vw business directory at the top of the front page re, wipers.i'd try someone like Classic veedub or Vintage Veedub suppliers. They're
interstate but i think these guys should have some & post them to you.You might even find some at the swap meet.
thanks for the info, I'll look em up
when do you think you'll get yours on the road? have you had to do much work on her ?
I know what you mean about being happy with what you have...we were looking for ages and ages, and we had almost resigned ourselves to the fact that
we would probably have to buy a bay...I'm glad we hung out and got a splitty.
I've got a bay which is my daily driver at the moment but my splitty is my absolute love.:kiss
When i bought her she was in bad shape but now all the rust has been removed & i'm nearly up to the painting stage.(just gotta save some more
$$$$$$).You can see my progress here, its been a big job......http://www.aussieveedubbers.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=26173#pid221179
All going well i plan to have her on the road for the VW Jamboree which is in March.
I went thru that whole thread just then, that is absolutely awesome what you are doing. I though ours was in a bad way when we got it, the floor rust
was incredible, but we have had it all fixed now and it's completely rustproofed. But what we have done is nothing compared to what you have done.
That is incredible.
I see what you mean about the windows, there's a picture in that thread of a blue one, those windows look original.....mine definetly don't!!
hey, how'd you go fitting the bed? found a way to mount it up yet?
pics for you
2
Hey thanks for hosting those pics resto - I can't figure out how to do em.
Ryan, we've looked at it, and it fits easily enough, it's just a matter of getting around to doing it now. It was registered two weeks ago..it's
great to be on the road.
Nice ride, should go on the chapel street run this saturday. Hope to see you there.
I'll have to see how we are going, I need to get the back seat fitted (I just bought it from baybuscamperkid) so that the kiddies can come along.
They will spew if we leave them at home !!
maybe we can get them babysat ??? hmm.
