Hi all.
This would be my first post on this board, soon as I get broadband working again (next week) I'll fix my avatar and signature up.
I'm an early-model Subaru fanatic, I've built up several to date and have been active in Subaru online communities since the 90s.
My reason for joining the VW forum is my girlfriend has a VW fetish and has requested that I buy her a Beetle. I don't mind, having such a love of
all things Subaru I've always viewed Volks drivers as distant cousins. But I guess I'd better find out a bit about the little 'wagens before I get
in too deep!
Looking forward to getting to know you all better.
Welcome aboard have fun and we may even bring you over from the darkside.
Marc
Well I went for a spin in a Passat the other day, I was most impressed...
Here's one of my current Subarus, a 1987 GL 4WD sedan. 5" lift, EJ20 conversion, blah blah blah...

If the pic doesn't work try the old right click then "show picture".

haha. mad, buy her a baja...
The thought has crossed my mind . . . or as she puts it "one of those bugs sorta high up at the rear with sorta no back on them".
BTW, some of the photos on here are super inspirational.
Welocme aboard for the ride - But Subaru's and VW's distant cousins - VW created the flat four boxer adn Subaru refined it.
Hey I got a scooby doo also and love bit but not as much as my Bay Kombi which rocks:bounce
Hey welcome. You'll find a few people on here that have EJ20T conversions.
nest best thing in a VW if the donk dies is a Subaru engine
Hmmm... a Baja with a 200KW EJ20 eh...
BTW, hate to be a pain and all, but there's no such motor as an EJ20T. The factory designation is either EJ20G or EJ20D for the turbo motors,
depending on wheather it's an open or closed deck block, but no T! You still won't see it stamped on the block!
Well there you go. That'll teach me for copying what others write....:P

Unless you're an engineer
ok then it may get thru
you should go and have a look at this site
http://www.offroadvw.net/bajawes/
Wes has a KL ZE V6 in his baja. It is a Mazda / Ford Probe V6
Also Buggy Brad now owns Custom Off Road - one of our sponsors.
One of their specialties is putting Sube motors in Kombi's, buggies and Baja's
Bajawes is familiar to me, yes. I've also bandied it around my Subaru communities, my collegues there have been most impressed.
welcome.. subi freak
dont be shy i too have a subi and have had a few of em..
natural progression from air flat fours yeah.
but cant bare to part with my oval.. so have both!
nice subie man:bounce baja for sure. heres a pic of mine
oh and my dads l series wagon:bounce
I'm going to buy a forester. i love em, and it will start every time, which is something I'll have to get used to...:bounce
I like it, I like it . . . the L's looking a little left out though.
How do you go with legalities on things like tires and lifts on the Bajas? I also noticed that your headlights aren't headlights at all, what is it
that you're using there?

welcome to the forum!
A lot of people on here also own Subi's
Yes, welcome aboard!
I love my new Liberty 2.5 wagon, can't believe how well it handles in standard form! I will have to check out the suby forums to get some ideas for
mods/upgrades down the track!
By the way, what are some of the better suby forums?
[Edited on 29-3-2005 by Dasdubber]
Yeah, I got a Liberty RX wagon as well. I love the handling, but curse at the fact that my wife demanded an auto... I would've loved a manual.
As far as 4 cylander autos go, the Libby is definately one of the better ones.
The best Subaru forum for older Subarus is by far http://www.ausubaru.com, but we do
newer Subies too (the administrator has a 98 Liberty Twin Turbo, there's quite a few lifted late-model Libby wagons and we've many WRX owners
too).
Of course there's http://www.ultimatesubaru.net which is American (but don't
hold that against them!) and has a MASSIVE international following.
You should also look into the MRT rally forums, those guys are the gurus at late-model performance.
Thanks for the welcome guys, you're really a friendly bunch.
Well welcome to the forum... Won't be long until your a VW fanatic like the rest of us.
It's good to see your girlfriends got good taste in cars.
