Another 'what does this mean' Question

Hello all. I've seen the use of 'NOS' in the posts and wanted to know what it means.

Thanks

NOS = New Old Stock

Something that's been hidden away that is original equipment.

Understood. Thanks Paul.

Yep, to be used in the proper context it must be new and unused. Should be used when talking about genuine original equipment, not aftermarket reproduction products.

Don't forget that assocoated with NOS is NLA, which is No Longer Available, as in no-one is making that part either geniune or as an after market copy any more. Therefore it's a rare part, so if you might need one in the future, buy this one now or miss out.

NOS is like wine. Depending on its vintage, region etc. It could be anything from New Old Stock to something even more desirable, mystical and mythical like Rocking Horse Poo. (no I don't have a lisp, thanks for asking!!) :thumb

For instance, if a NOS part is available for a Datsun. It simply means it has no rust and hasn't been recycled into a Hyundai yet....But...if its a NOS part for a VW!!! Well....how deep are your pockets son!! Usually means it costs a hell of alot more on ebay!!!:cry
