Hi to all,
I'm Luca from Italy. I've discovered this site through a French Magazine (Super VW Magazine). I'm the owner of a 1982 Mexico coloured in dark blue
that is also my dayly driver.
I hope to make some friends here in spite of the big distance.
Greetings
Luca
Hi Luca. Welcome to Australia (sort of).. I was just in Italy. Where are you close to?
Bill
I'm close to Milan... I hope yo've liked Italy
Welcome Luca. I stayed in Milan overnight last year (January) Lovely city. Also stayed in Venice and Florence and Rome on the same trip. Didn't
do any driving though as I wasn't brave enough. I only saw one bug on the road in the whole time I was there (in Florence) so yours must be pretty
rare. Do you have many people to get together with and enjoy your classic VWs?
Yogie
Overall thanks for your welcome.
In Italy there is a good movement for classic VW. I've joined the Maggiolino Kafer Club of Milan that is the biggest VW club in Italy with about
4,500 members. In my town that counts a population of about 37,000 there are about 15 Beetles that are all daily drivers. In Florence, Rome, Turin
there are others VW clubs a little bit smaller than the Maggiolino Kafer Club. I forgot to say that my club organize every two years the meeting at
the Monza racetrack (yes the Formula 1 racetrack)... and with about 40 AU$ fee you can make all the laps in the racetrack you want! And this is the
year of the Monza meeting.

Hi Luca, I went to Milano and all over Italy by car. I wish I could go back to Monza. Sounds like FUN in a VW. All the best,
Bill
Monza sounds like MUCH FUN in a VW for a driver... much less fun for the passenger with my drive! :puke

Here one pic of my Beetle with background of the Monferrato hills (Norther Italy). Lovely, isn't it?
Beautiful.
certainly is...
barbera is one of my favourite italian wine styles :thumb
hey chris, doesn't that 'thumb up' have a slightly different meaning over in Europe? Careful what you wish for......he he.
Don't worry ren, in Italy "thumb up" means "ok" or "great"... So :thumb with barbera is ok!
Who wants to live in Italy? We can make a change... I give you my parents and a life in Italy and I come to live in Australia!!!
G'day Mate ,
Welcome to Avd.
Sound like a great swap .
Do you have any more pictures of your Bug??
Adam
Hi Adam,
I've posted pics of my Beetle on the forum "Members rides". I forget to say that together with my parents you must take my dad's car, a 1983
Peugeot 104 GL with 120,000 kms on the clock.
May be not
would i get to drive the beetle if we swaped??
Italy had many Italian unique accessories for Vws ever seen any??

You could drive your Beetle... I'll take my Beetle in Austalia! However be careful if you drive in Italy beacuse our cars are left hand drive...
The accessories in Italy are those for all the world. You could find accessories for old VWs (until 1965) made in Germany at swap meets, but they are
much expensive.
There were some Itilian only spec stuff
Especially for type 3s eg: diamonte studded door sill trim.
Clear raparound indicators for early type 3 .

In Italy there are not many Type 3 so it's very difficult to find something. You coul try on the site of Enrico Cantone in Livorno ( http://www.ecantone.com ) or Dei KaferService ( http://www.deikaferservice.com ) that are 2 of the biggest spare parts sellers in Italy. There are also many forums like this for old VWs, but they are bound together to a club
