gday mike,
there are quite a few emerging rides over on the west side, with some really sweet engine conversions. last time i checked there were around 7 ppl on this forum building VWRX bugs, ej22, ej2ot, etc.. etc..

so post some pictures of your ride and give us some details. and if you have any questions, the search button is very handy, or you can ask one of us in the tech talk section.
good to have another manx on the roads.

Great to meet you! Im in Perth also, and am in the middle of an EJ22 conversion in my 74 L Bug. Perth is quickly turning into the conversion capital of Australia. Any questions about conversions, give Seagull a buzz by sending him a U2U message.
