G'Day
Just thought I would say G'Day. I have recently purchased a '69 Beetle and with help of Bone Collector (thanks) did a few things and now it is my
daily driver.
Look forward to the future.
Cool dude...it's all infectious hey :thumb
And here Pete is leaving us all.....:cry
it is a pity he's leaving. It was great having a font of knowledge directly across the road!!
see youse at the V8s in June
Coming up again hey...be good to meet
yeah, no worries, will be up there for a week or two
Looks like Taz Devil (Adam) has been bitten by the bug, big time.
The day after hae purchased the car he had already place an order with George from Classic VW and exspressed posted them to Darwin. Over a period of a
weekend, we had ripped the engine oput for a snappy overhaul and pretty up, new clutch and adjusters, full brake overhaul, floor pan clean up and rust
proofing, electrics tidy up, Empi trigger shifter and linkage over haul, full tune up and adjustments and the list goes on.
The car was a steel at $1000 with rego and with the additional $$$ Adam has thrown into it has produced a really solid daily runner.
Looks like 2 tone paint job is on the way too, with a lot of extra bling
I'll post a couple of pics from the day he bought it and Adam will post the updated picks as they become avalible.
Sure will miss the Darwin VW scene.
Taz Devils ride - the day he got the old girl.
inside
Looks nice - and a bargain, too
Thanks Pete, I almost forgot what it looked like on day 1. Did we really do that much.
Attached are some more photos...
and here are some more....
She's well on the way. Should come up a treat after the door is replaced and the 2 tone is done.
Good luck, you'll need it now you've been bitten by the bug.lol
Well on the way alright...good stuff
To think that the car was heading for the scrap heap not so long ago as well...
That looks pretty clean for a car that must be around forty years old!! And for a thousand dollars you must be well chuffed.
He's chuffed alright, wait until he gets the stainless exhast sytem on his little baby.
Also thanks Reub for hooking Adam up with the new running boards.
Hey Reub. Yep thanks for the running boards. May need some slight adjustment to make them fit. Nothing ever goes as planned.
Chuffed. To say the least. I can't believe I finally found one. I thought I was destined to, dare I say it, drive a barina...
It's ok, for all of you who want to slap me for saying that, I did it myself.
...thanks for the reference to a Barina mate...
I came accross heaps of late beetles for sale but wanted an early one for the right money. Waited over 2 years to find the 58 and scored a 56 as
well....worth driving a barina around for a while I'd suggest
Hey mate
The reference to a Barina was in no way mocking people who drive them, it's just that there was one for sale down the road. It was just that I had my
heart/mind/body/soul set on one.
beetle bug that is!!
I was going to comment...but didn't Glad you cleared it up
So, what are your plans for the car?
Well, Pete and I just installed the new exhaust. Sounds much better, not quite the John Deere Tractor that it sounded like.
After that I am going to tidy the interior up. Needs new carpet may seat covers for the moment, the roof lining is ok but I think it will get a new
one of them as well.
Exterior: going to leave as is for the moment as it is parked in the open all day and I find that the elements ruin the paintwork quicker than you can
paint it.
I must say the spead in the latest VW mag is great on your car!!
hey guys do you know there's going to be a POWERCRUISE at Hidden Valley in April?
Nah wasn't aware. Unfortunately I won't be in Darwin in April, I will be in Pt Augusta in S.A.
Here are some pics now that a few more improvements have taken place.
Cheers for now
Hi guys
I decided that after reading a bit about Tech Talk on Cut and Polish I would give it a go. :thumb
Here are the end results.
Ordered more parts from George at Classic Veedub today, bring on the weekend. :yes
