Thought I better say gooday.

Hi, I registered a little while back but thought I better say gooday to all. Some may know me from the Ozrodders board and I am into Hotrods and Kustoms but also have a liking for early Bugs and Split window Kombis (must be the influences of HotrodMatt!).

We just bought our first VW at Ballarat Swap Meet. I was told it was 61 or so but it is factory (but faded) Bahama Blue with a red and white interior and no glove box. I gather this puts it b/w 1964 and 1966 (not 61). How do I tell exactly? Will try to get the numbers from under the rear seat but have to get all the parts out first! Pretty much complete, came with some spares, needs resto but been in a shed 15 or so years.

Haven't decided on a build style yet but have looked around this and other sites for ideas. Plan is to build it for my daughter as a cheap runaround that looks a bit different. I am a big fan of the 50s/60s look, love whitewalls, lowering, accessories etc. though also love the Hotrod styled dubs. Open to ideas and suggestions and how to pick exactly what year I have! Will link to some pictures shortly!

G'day! Castlemaine... where Rod lives! And Rods live!

Yep, just down the road actually! Technically I am in Chewton but always say Castlemaine as nobody knows where Chewton is! Here are some pics. If anyone can pick the exact year please let me know! I am thinking 65. It is 6v.

Just checked the engine number, which I believe is original. It is 9124226. According to another web site I found that makes it November 1964. Is that correct? The engine cover seems to be the only non original panel on the car, the other parts. lights etc. are inside it!

Yeah and it is all your fault! You gave me the link to this place, you turned my daughter into a VW freak with all those pictures and going around the CRAKK run in the back of that splitty with all those other kids really nailed it.

Katie saw this at Ballarat Swap and had to have it! Apparently it drove into the shed it was in for 15 years but has had some bits removed. Has a NOS front bar inside it too and some spare glasses etc. Will get someone who knows more than me to take a look and decide what to do next!
