LIFE IN THE LOW LANE - March 16th, 2007 at 11:59 PM

Hello everyone

I have finally managed to sign up to this forum after trying for a while!!! My name is Brennden and some of you would know who I am as I have been around the VW circles in Brisbane for as long as I can remember how to spell my own name(Mum had to be difficult!) My family are blood type VW and the heritage goes right back to 1955 when my Dad's uncle bought a 54 Splitty and put it on the beach doing trips to double Island point with 15 people on board.

Anyway my grandparents have owned I don't know how many VW's as well as my uncles and aunties and that has carried down to myself and my cousins to this day. I have a 1976 Kombi thats lowered on 15" merc rims, big stereo, koni's, warm type 4 2.0L, 2 L box etc etc. Most people here would know the car if they saw it as it's been to most of the shows/cruises and I've made the trip to Valla in it for the last 10 years or so.

In my younger days I drove it like i stole it and a few here can attest to it. 200km'hr in this thing was a bit of fun but not something I'd do these days at all. I used it for my detailing business(RBT Detailing) for 10 years racking up somewhere in the vicinity of 1000 k's a week.

It is currently having a well deserved rest at my parents after dropping a valve(just love Type 4's lol)but in saying that it had done 463 000k's on that engine so I guess I can't whinge too loudly considering how I used to drive it.

Currently I am helping my brother gets his 70 Fastback finished hopefully in time for the Drag meet at Warwick. He's spent a small fortune on this thing engine wise and hopefully it'll be ready in time to have a run down the 1/8. Engine is 2330 type 1 with autronic ecu, single throttle body with garret T4 running about 18 psi. Only thing VW left on the engine is the heads and they have had extensive welding and modifications done.

So enough about me for now and look forward to getting to know everyone here who doesn't already know me and see you at an event in the not too distant future.

Cheers Brennden
