I'm not actually a V-dub person myself - although I do like them and, like many Aussies when in Europe, have owned a couple of Kombis while travelling. I did have a MK2 Golf as well, just rememebered... and a maniac friend of mine drove us both off the side of Clyde Mtn in his Mark 1 when i was a much younger person!

Anyway, .... Friends of mine in S.E Melb - Surrey Hills, specifically - own both an air-cooled Kombi and a Caravelle. They are highly non-mechanically-minded and have asked me if i can find a recommended (non dealership) VW mechanic, preferably not too far away, but anyone, anywhere would be a start.

As a Datsun person (sorry!) I really don't know, but am doing my best for them... if anyone here knows of anyone that fits the bill I would really appreciate the information.

Tucker Motors would not be too far away, and I would recommend them, as quite a number of other people would.
