G'day all
I have recently become active on this site and feel it's about time I introduce myself officially, seeing, as of yesterday, I have finally an air
cooled project started.
I have been involved with volksies since 1976. (wow??)
My first was an oval beach buggy with no roof, guards or front/rear cuts, roll bar & welded doors.(1100/36hp)
Then a '63 that I baja'd with a jig saw!!(1200/40hp)
I then built a flatbed baja beetle, rego'd for when I got my licence, still at high school.(1835/70hp)
A one owner 74 passat 2 door for a while.(1300/?hp)
'70 dual cab. (1641/65hp)
Next baja was a ripper. One pce bonnet, full space frame bumper to bumper, long travel dual shocks with luxury interior.Best baja and best engineered
'88 Nationals. This is probably the only oz baja to make vw trends.(2074/120hp)
Next a '69 911.(1998/160hp)
The work truck; '73 dually.Eventually very baja'd and bright yellow, 911 2.2 powered for a while, but prefered 914 Haltech power plant for towing
race rig. (1970/120hp)
Project '54 23 delux, regretfully never did get far, but she went to a good home. (1192/36hp)
Choptop drag car. What can I say? ... Joint effort. (2165/195hp)
Late car .. '78 golf Heron block/head, 5 speed, Haltech 23lb boost= fun. Stashed but now I might pilfer some bits.(1800/200hp)
Brings me to last weeks purchase.
'69 baja. rego'd monday. today body off, mechanicals stripped. To get T IV 914 Haltech 4x tb, porsche fan T2 box and who knows what bits I can
find!!
I've been out of the scene since leaving Volksrestore in'99, having gone sailing for 2 seasons up the coast, built 11meter sailing catamaran, and
now just finished building our house with 18x12m shed out the back, just right for a few projects.
We have bush tracks right at the front door and Noosa/Teewah 40 mile beach less than 15 minutes away. Heaven!! So I cant wait to get a baja again.
If ever your in the area, feel free to give me call 54720212.
Cheers for now

Hi Matt
Welcome, I met you a few times in Sydney at Vintage or Hellbug I think.
Steve
Yeah mate. Also valla and valla and ... you know.
Cheers :thumb
Well I can remember talking crap at Volksrestore with you when my mate John started restoring an oval . I had a riced up civic that I spent crap
loads on while my wife (then girlfriend) had a sweet 70's bug (an engine that I lated destroyed). Lots of cool people back then Michal Nash and
Dodgie George out at Brendale, Mr bean. Anyway your wifes silver car was purchased by my great mate, later became my wedding car, was offered to me
by said mate but I turned him down as I knew my plans were to wild, then I found out another friend had purchased it as was parting it out so a deal
was struck. Anyway 20K from now it should be finished
then end
Hey Matt,
Thought it was you, I spent a looot of money @ Volksrestore back in the day. Glad you went sailing! :kiss
Welcome!
KKK
aka Todd, various kombi's, fasties and rebuilds
What are you doing these days?
Well... right now, just returned form bris after picking up some goodies.
At the moment I'm doing what ever comes my way, Todd, a bit of boat building, abit of dak dak, a bit of electrical work etc.. But I tell you, I did
like cruising!!! Thanks for the looot! Stephen, thanks for saving
Charlotte. She is a cool car. There's a neat story of her origin. It's unreal how small the world is. One of my mates in Bris ( I think he was
conceived in a Beetle ) is currently building a weapon on her pan..I wonder how many more parts will materialise. By the way, Donna is currenty
telling me she still loves her!!! Will be good to see her rebirth.
Cheers
Matt
Good to see you back around mate. Knew the VW bug would eventually bite hard enough to get you back in the swing of things.
Cheers Brennden
Yeah thanks Brenndan, the itch never went away.:thumb
Great to be air cooled again.
