Hiya fellas,

great forum here. Finally got the courage to step forward and introduce meself....

I'm currently helping my dad to fix and run his 1969 Beetle 1300. Been at it since I came back from studying down under in 1997.

Didn't really plan to fix it up but came across a group of VW enthusiasts in my hometown (just a small group really), and that's where it all started.

The car's been in the family since 1980, quite long time. Got to a really bad shape when I went back after my studies. After getting a job and got meself enough dough, started to buy parts and put it in the 'shop for major welding job and repaint.

Dunno how to post multiplt pics iin one post, but I'll out one in first, so here you go. Hope I didn't scare you fellas with this one.

Look forward for make more VW friends.

cheers.

Thanks.

Well, the car should be undergoing 2nd stage resto by now because the repaint was done in 2000. So, 8 years now and being a daily driver it's a bit rough.

Will probably repaint it with the same colour, but of course, gotta have the smackaroos first!

cheers.

here's another shot, from the rear.

Oh, almost forgot, the car suffered a carburettor fire back in 2004, quite a nasty one.

Fortunately one of the bystanders happened to have an extinguisher at hand. Cause of fire: not cracked hose, but the copper tube going into the carb body. The tube came off the carb and you could imagine what ensued.

Replaced the carb with a spare unit that i have, and had to sent the car for engine bay rewiring. Repainted the decklid and some of the LH side portion near the rear screen, on the roof.

it's still running strong till today and will turn 40 next year.

Never thought that it'll be in the family this long eh, don't you think?

Cheers.
