Just thought I would place my first post here to say hi.

Bought a delightful pink convertible 1974 superbug for the missus last weekend.

The plan was to buy one that was no work involved except for maybe a few small jobs, but unfortunately the wife saw this one and I couldnt change her mind.

Original asking price $6500, but when I rang they told me the car was off the road with engine problems (piston rings where mentioned) I rang the seller again after 3 weeks when they dropped the price to $3500 and went to have a look. A couple of hours later, I was the proud owner of a pink beetle for the tune of $2000

Now I have another project on my hands (and I am not very mechanically minded) so hopefully can get a bit of advice from everybody here.

I will need to get the engine rebuilt/revised, need all the seats re-upholstered & also need a new dash just to start the ball rolling.

I am in Monbulk in the Dandenong ranges, but can travel all around Melbourne if neccesary.

Well you came to the right place. I bought a bug for 600 that had been sitting in a garden for over 3 years. I have no mechanical experience and just with asking questions have just got the bug up to roadworthy.
