G'Day all in Aussie Vee Dubbers.
My name is Norman, and am in Sydney. Thought I'd drop in and say Hi to all, and share my recent "new" acquisition with you all. A '65 Standard
Beetle. I had been away from the Beetle scene for 19 years, and am so glad to be back into it again.
I attended the VW Show'n'Shine at Fairfield Showgrounds on Sunday, and what a day it was. It was great to see all the VW variants and models in
showroom condition and original condition.
My Beetle is in about original condition as can be. It's Polar White in colour, 1200, and the engine is the original one, and umodified. Still has
the 6V electrical system.
I have a question about history search of the older vehicles, and was disappointed to hear from NSW RTA that all paper records of older vehicles were
destroyed in 1991, and I'm only able to trace the history of my vehicle back to May 1988. This trace was done on the RTA Website for a small fee. The
information was good in what it gave, but only gave back to 1988.
Does anyone know of an unofficial VW archive around for the older VW's? VW Australia have no records and don't acknowledge the older volkswagens
prior to the new model beetle.
If it helps anyone, the numbers of the car is as follows:
Chassis: 195536211
Engine: 9226366
Previous number plate (NSW): DVR 338
Will appreciate any info, as I'm trying to build a history on this car.
Cheers,
Norman
