Do you know what kit it is? Is it a wide eye kit? bug eye kit? pictures would help... Give custom vee dub a call anyway, They maybe able to help you identify your kit and point you in the right direction.

is a wide eyed kit -- how do i attach photo

1916baja - July 30th, 2009 at 07:13 PM

you need to re-size the image down to about 50% of the original size ( cant remember the exact size limit) then attatch it to the post. Or you can e-mail it to me now and i'll chuck it up for you.

kit is like the ëmpi"one shown

Looks like the "cheetah" kit, That is probably the most common baja kit around, and best looking if you ask me... Now give custom vee dub a call and they may be able to give you some info regarding your kit, History on the kit being approved etc... They really know alot about all that QLD transport and legalities sort of stuff.

Another option is to head over to dunebuggyandbajaadventures.freeforums.org and there is a guy on there called "ancientbugger" and i believe he is in the process of registering a baja in QLD.

I got mucked around with QLD transport for so long i just registered it as a beetle, It has been for god knows how many years, why change now?? Some people told me you need a mod plate/certificate for a baja some people told me you didn't as there are no real chassis mods... I couldn't really figure it out in the end but its on the road  and has been for a couple of years now with out a problem.

Good luck! Chuck some pictures up when you can we would love to see it!

Do a search on here, I wrote out the rules of what you need to do and how.

If it is a Cheetah Kit they are approved already and you do not need a core sample. The kit's manufacturer which is registered as Custom Offroad Componets (now Custom Vee Dub) has had this approved and as such it is not needed. All you need to do is get a letter from CVD certifying it is a Cheetah Kit and fitted in accordance with the manufactures instructions, which I have uploaded on to the Manx Club Australia ( http://www.manxclub.org ) website.

still trying to get some sense out of people!!
The actual tests required on the fibreglass panels is -British Standard 2782 part 3 method 335a passage 32E
the guys at "Bureau Veritas Asset Integrity and Reliability Services Pty Ltd" who apparently can do the tests have said that to do the test they have to destroy the panels!!
any other ideas

Cheers

hmm...
So if its not a cheetah kit though, i'm sure COR would be able to have a look and give ya the papers anyways, its not rocket science for them to judge a fibreglass panel, particularly when they play with it every day. Stamp it off as a Cheetah kit, money in their pocket (if they rekon its decent enough of a kit and safe/ properly fitted) and ur off merrily heading ova to the transport department for rego.

I'm sure they would be able to do something for ya. its not rocket science. Give em a buzz.

I gotta go though the same crap. i got a luvely thick fibreglass kit, but i don't know the manufacturer, and i have only seen 1 like it (my own).
