Ive found a 1972 1600 Superbug for sale in my hometown..
engine has been re'cond'd..now at 92,000
no rust..apparently
new paint job
new interior
cd player
new battery and brakes
new seals and rubbers
near new tyres
pics of it look sweet!
the owner's family owns a garage and he's been doing it up. owned it for 2 years..the car that is :P
ok..so what else should i be looking for?
whats the go with windscreens ..fingers crossed it dosnt break..but if it did...do 1972's have hard ones to obtain?
will hopefully be buying it at 1pm today.geeeez im nervous!
any advice?!
is the speedo at 92,000 or has the engine done that since the reco, cos in a vw thats almost coming around for another reco
broken windscreens should be the least of your worries owning a vw
its the same screen in all 68 onwards bug except for 73 on Lbugs and are cheap to replace compared to most cars
i think thats what its done since engine been reconditioned..are you for real about it having to be done again soon..hmmmmm
i have no clue at how much id be putting into the car on a yearly basis....
i was only planning on keepig it for 2 yrs then selling it again..need my vw beetle fix b4 i had kids
that was a bit of an over exaggeration
they do last longer than that with the right maintaince and treated right
i was just astounded that someone would still call it reco'd after 92,000 clicks
its like calling my 9 year old ford a brand new car
if your only getting for a couple of years my best advice is just maintain it and drive it, dont start spending money doing it up
you NEVER get back what you put into them
ohhh my godddd!!! he offered me the bug .....oh shiiiit!!! i think i have my 1st ever bug!!whoooooooot!
mmmkay... so did u get it?
if so put up a pic
h
h, my responce is similar.... I don't know what this chap is on about...
emailing him just making sure the rwc is included in the purchase price
i have no clue how to attach pics...but here i go!
i aint no chap lol...and what chap would use the name comaeyes ?!
any constructive feedback would be awesome :-)
Look like a Toffee Apple
Congrats, and hope you have trouble free travelling.
Don't rush getting rid of it though when you have kids. I grew up in a beetle, mum had a safety harness in the back and never had any troubles
getting me in and out.
Don't worry, the boys weren't calling you a chap but the guy you were buying off that was clearly trying to talk it up a little.

what a way to get ur hopes dashed i even opened a bottle of
wine.......ahh well....another good reason to drink it i suppose..down my sorrows lol

See mate, plenty of people that can help you out, don't get too disheartened. This might have been a good thing, as you may end up with something far
better.
Oh yeah, and Colonel Mustard, i'm only 26 and don't use the fact your 20 as an excuse for not thinking before you post. You're a big kid now.
arrrr that bug that was on ebay. Very nice.
Dylan, you don't tell someone that who is clearly upset they missed out on it.

the support and guidance of a few more experiences vw ppl around..thanks..will call on your services soon enough hopefully!
its hard for me to pinpoint what im after exaclty i.e what year ect..i suppose 1972-75, type 1, 1600, thats decent enough looking, with a price range
of 2-5k prob my price range is a bit low, but then again, bargains are out there to be found!)..thats about all i know lol ..i know im not
mechanically minded, but i do know 2 vw specialists to keep it regualry serviced, so basicaly after a daily drive, ill be looking to have it only for
a few years. but yeah...

I know of a 1974 Lbug in NSW
has a fare bit of surface rust and the super bug steering shakes. Motor and gear box seem ok ,it that light blue colour.6 months NSW rego
I think it be about A $2000 car
Hmmm try and stay away from shaky superbug steering, not the easiest to fix once it starts doing that.
For a bit more money you can have the following. I have always liked this car, and it is good value for money, and closer your way. I would check it
out!

If I was in the market, I'd be snapping up that one. Looks like a steal to me. Maybe that's your new car Comaeyes?
