Just thought I should introduce myself seeing I am a newbie to the forum. Love all the information and builds here guys you all should be commended
for all the blood sweat and tears that have gone into every ride.
I am a complete novice when it comes to Volkies and the funny flat motor but I am very keen to learn as much as I can about this wonderful cars. I have built and customised about 4 cars now. Being a
Torana, a monaro, a HT Stationa wagon and my pride and joy a 1999 HSV clubbie that I have own since new.
I recently (this Sunday) acquired this little gem as my next project car. I can believe how excited I am about it. I have always wanted a Beetle but
never found the excuse to get one. This is 1963 Aussie Beetle built on the 18 October. The former owner has it's birth certificate so i am hoping he
can locate it. It currently has 1200 in him which is not the original motor. The fella who previously owned him gave him to me free of charge as long
as I did him up. He has been stored at a mate farm for last 7 years and as you can see in the photo he is has been doing it hard.
Funny thing was when I was taking him home on the trailer I got at least 2 or 3 nods and waves in recognition and when I pulled up at the servo for
fuel and refreshments I had another two fellows come up and ask me about the Dub. Both of them had had a Dub in their life and spoke very fondly of
their own rides back in the day.
Anyway i plan to make him into a Cal and slam him low low low. Engine will need to be upgraded as will the suspension, wheels and brakes. So expect
lots of questions from me as I get up to speed and into what looks like a great scene to be involved in.
Cheers and Beers
Trent
Trent,
Good luck with the new project, would love to see pics of the torana and monaro, my other love is my SV6.
I am sure you will have a lot of fun and challenges to your project but well worth the effort.
Lots of help here on the forum asI have found over the past month or so since joining.
Look forward to seeing your progress
Paul
Welcome
Looks like you may have some work ahead
Believe you are a friend of Grumble & Barls??
I may have had a beer with you then at the Lord Nelson a year ago
Barry
Welcome Trent. Sounds like a fun trip towing your new project....keep it mind as thats one of the best parts of being a Volksi dude, you never get tired of all the admiring comments... and it never stops . Oh, and the other fun part is putting in a stonk'n engine and dusting a few HSV's .
Thanks fella's for the welcome.
I'll see if I can dig them up and scan them in Paul. Here's one of the Clubby...
It has a Gen3 stroked to a 383, was twin turbo now supercharged with OTR pod, 4.11 diff mini spool, gearbox is a tricked 4L60E with a stage 3 kit +
3500 stally, teins and lowered springs on each corner, sits on 19" hoops, half cage with race seats, custom tuned exhaust and headers. Was built to
track and hill climb. Not a real show car but kept neat none the less.
Yes I mates with Barls via another forum Bizarre. Not sure if we have shared a beer but I am always keen to have a beer. It's going to be a lot of
work and a big learning curve I reckon. I'm not phased by the body but the engine and tranny freak me a little I must admit. I am sure I will pick up
that knowledge over time.
Matt the trip home was fun and to be honest I was just little chuffed by the attention it got. As for dusting the HSV we will see in 2 years time .
Chap Chap
looks good Trent. have fun with it and welcome.
Cheers
Chris
