G'day folks,

This is the plan. I'm chasing down an older beetle for the wife (has always wanted one) and my first question to those learned people is. Can you (legally) get a child restraint/anchor points installed into one of these fine old machines. We have two little tackers under 3 that require strapping down whilst mobile in a vehicle. The info regarding this will determine whether the wife gets her dream car or not.

Your help and advice is most appreciated.

Regards Tod.

Hey Tod and Welcome.

Trying posting this question in the General chat section. Gets a bit more traffic out there to be able to help you with your questions.

I know of it being done to a few cars, but couldn't tell you if it is legal though.

I'm pretty sure it's legal, Kustom kombi does them legally in kombis so i'd say there is a way to do it in beetles.

It will depend on what state your in, but in Qld it's legal if a qualified installer fits the necessary approved hardware. Be careful, some installations can be shockers for the vehicle as far as placement of the securing points goes. Top of the firewall is the go as opposed to through the pane under the back window that ends up with hardware visible through the engine air intake vents.

Good luck finding your newest member to the family.
