just bought my first car this week, a little '74 beetle.
Although I admit to knowing very little about cars, but my little beetle has so much character and is so simple that I have been sponging up
as much info I can about them. I am becoming quite the enthusiast!
He's got a little rust on his floor pan, and after we get that fixed he will be ready for a RW and ready to hit the road! The little man drives like
a dream!
(hope I've got the photo attachment on correctly)
sweet
welcome!
Awesome car do you have any plans?
mainly to just get it on the road first!
It drives fine. It has a 1300 badge, but I'm told has a 1600 engine - so he's nice and zippy!
I like the matt black, but the previous owner painted it with a paint gun and the paint reacted on the driver-side door. Eventually I want to sand it
down and paint it again. There are some other little aesthetic things to do, like fixing the bits that are worn on the inside.
Main plans for the moment though are to keep picking up ideas and learn more about the engine so I can do my bit to keep him in good nick
mine has a 1600 twin port motor and goes really well, look forward to seeing your progress
thanks, will do my best.
Am looking for a good manual. I've been recommended to buy the "How to Keep Your VW Alive" by John Muir?
I am a complete beginner, so this idiot guide seems helpful
any other recommendations?
The best technical manual is a Bentley, ottherwise, get an idiots gude and a Gregory's or Haynes manual, all other than the idiot's guide need to be
correct for your model of beetle.
Oh, and welcome, very nice first car.
welcome aboard!
Love the matt black look.
Stealth. Have you tried your luck outsmarting speed cameras with it, lol.
He could definitely run some cameras at the moment - have to get a little rust fixed before we can get a RW and registration.
We do take him on little stealthy rides around the block. Sadly its hard to be inconspicuous with a beetle!
