Hi all,
Very new to all things VW here, but that is all going to drastically change very soon. My better half has been wanting a Beetle since she first got
her licence. As sometimes happens, a lot of other things get in the way and the dreams look like they will never come true. Now fast forward to 3
weeks short of her 30th birthday and she cant stop going on about beetles/how she wishes she had one/regrets on not just getting one for her first
car/how she cant stop seeing beetles everywhere she goes. So much so that I start thinking if I could find one it would make a good gift. Just so
happens her parents are on the same thought pattern and with some small town mechanic help, they have a Beetle found. Its All looking like a winner
with Mum buying the car, step dad mechanic tiding off the motor and me paying for a splash of new paint.
Done I’m thinking …until I find out the Beetle comes with two more for parts and then step dad throws in the old (complete) Beetle from out the
back of the workshop for me to restore! Will need a shed ASAP!
So that’s kind of my story at the moment, yesterday had none and tomorrow will have 4. So I’m looking forward to seeing her face when she gets her
present and looking forward to the future Beetle restoration projects.
Welcome and congrats on the instant collection. Look forward to some photos.
The first two of the bunch. the rest to be picked up soon
welcome aboard..

Welcome aboard
You have some work ahead of you
Cool pics of the red one
Love yer avitar - you a Hunter S Thompson fan??
Yeah, bit of a HST fan. was devastated when I found half ofmy books I had stolen. still meaning to to replace them. I just found that pic floating on
Google.
I guess when I pick up the last two I will really know the amount of work I'm up for, would really like to swap those two beetles for a splitty
project.
The full collection completed today. The amount of work ahead is starting to dawn on me, these will be a long term project starting with....
Bloody electrical problems and then these...
And being so new to things, what does th "s" indicate?
Even came with the original service and instuction manual!
Welcome mate nice collection your starting there.
The "S" means it is the first model superbug released here (71 & 72). They have the McPherson strut front suspension and double jointed rear
suspension arms with the lay flat tyre under the hood.
The "L" bug followed (73 & 74) after them and they had the curved windscreen and an actual dashboard on them.

That sure was what I was hoping but the spare does not lay flat and the suspension looks the same as the older ones, it's also a 1970 model so I don't really know what's up with the s.
It's just got an Sbug engine lid, its a 69 or 70 model.
Sigh, oh well. Better tell the boss I need to put a super engine in there, can't have the lid lie
