Found you guys in my search for an early fastback. Still looking. I absolutely love them and t34 ghias but i'm sure i'm not alone in that fondness here on this forum. Unfortunately I don't have the time and funds for a full resto so that limits my choices to trying to find a clean car with rego and most importantly little to no rust.
My current ride is a very clean mk5 2008 white Jetta tsi. Has had a little re-map and increase of turbo boost for a healthy kick in guts. Such a sleeper on the road and so much fun!

Here's some pics. I'm very pleased with the way it looks. I think style-wise VW have been in a holding pattern since this model. I don't see any great leaps in style or refinement with the current shape. Certainly won't be trading mine in for a current model unless it has an 'S' at the beginning of it's name. The tail lights on these were designed when VW gave a toss about making LED's look like a beautifully reflected light source. IMO that looks a million times classy than a strip light of LED's joined together like Christmas tree lights or foourteen flashlights pointing at you. But that is a personal opinion and I respect if people think otherwise.

Very nice, white is my favourite colour in new cars.

There are a few early fasties for sale down ere in Vic currently.
