Just back from 2 weeks on the Gold Coast and a trip through Byron on the way back. Never seen so many Kombis. In one trip from the Tweed to Southport, counted 31 Bays, and one grey Split bus. Saw a very nice blue oval with Flying VW regularly at Mermaid, and a brain snapping purpleish metallic Oval with saffron interior around Currumbin. Then in Byron saw Judy's black beetle parked in town. Also saw a redish orange/ cream top Split bus on the highway to Brisberg. Felt right at home.

Great to hear you had a nice holiday.
Next time your in Byron...let me know.

Its funny we all discuss all the nice VW's we spot in Byron & if anyone else saw this or that one.
Thanks heaps for taking the pic
Judy
A little bird told me you got a ride in a 23 window deluxe. And saw some of Ruby's friends!
Rob....
Rob,
I thought that was a dream. I thought I dreamt that I was in VW heaven. That's why I didn't mention it in the above. Sorry we didn't
get to catch up. Next time huh.
Yeah we had a club run on! I was a bit dissapointed I missed you, but life is long and I am sure we will meet oneday.
Very good man he is! I met him for the first time on the side of the freeway he had his head in the engine bay of Ruby, I just had to stop, after
trying everything we could think of we just could not get her to go home. I ended up towing him quite a long way home. We have been friends ever
since.
I helped him with the paint and bodywork on Crystal the little white Beetle, and have been helping him with Beige, the stickshift, next to get some
attention will be pidgeon!
He is helping me with the reso of my 66 Beetle, I bought it for parts the body was rusted in sections I thought were to far gone. He convinced me to
save it, with the work he did on the bus I knew that if he said it could be done, maybe I should give it a go. It will never be a show winner, but it
will be a very solid neat and tidy early Beetle for my wife and me, it's been too long since I had a Beetle on the road.
Rob.....
He told me that story about the bus pulling the splitty. He failed to mention it was Ruby being towed. He is one of a kind. Convinced me to beat out
the dints in this beetle I just bought. I wouldn't have even considered having a go or known where to start, but now I can't wait to get
into it. If there was a Saint of Volkswagonism, he'd be the man. "Saint Bob." Got a nice ring to it.
We'll catch up.
Cheers mate.
I was in Byron last week and saw the burundy 21 Window deluxe at the beach carpark. Next to "Fishheads" eatery. Nice looking car.
A few other splittys too.
Can't wait to get one after I sell my Peach 54 Oval - if it ever gets sold.
23 Window I meant - doh!!
