crazy

squizy - March 24th, 2005 at 09:40 PM

I love these stories. Grab that highroof and save it....actually, save them all. The farmer obviously doesn't want them.

57kombi - March 25th, 2005 at 10:16 AM

Sorry to burst your bubble but Hi-roofs are only rare if they are FACTORY.
Otherwise anyone could just fit them to any split,
If its not factory it is worth less than a standard split.
Like a panelvan that has had windows cut in it.

Cheers
Dave

58SPLIT - March 25th, 2005 at 11:18 AM

Dave, how would you know if its a factory fit up or not.?

57kombi - March 25th, 2005 at 11:21 AM

Look inside it is easy to tell if its just been bodged on.
The pic that Volks put up of his looks like an after market job to me.
Yours does look like it might be original.

Cheers
Dave

58SPLIT - March 25th, 2005 at 12:38 PM

were the side doors extended on all these conversions. This one still has the original door hights. Thers is a top gutter, but it starts from the original gutter and curves upwards at the front before running around the extended roof line. i dont think this one is a factory fit.

squizy - March 25th, 2005 at 05:15 PM

Judging by the pics, it therefore might not be original....but it certainly looks like it was done a while ago, and therefore in my opinion still has some collectability about it. It has rust on it, so it's metal, which means someone has put some work into it some time ago. Grab it still anyway I reckon.

VWCOOL - March 26th, 2005 at 07:43 AM

fkuc arguing about where the gutter is - SAVE THEM!

I'd volunteer to help, but I have no storage room...
