found this the other week, looked abandoned and i was gonna try to score it but it at a panel shop getting alot of work done to it, funny, its full of
massive holes alla round it yet it passed rego a few days ago. hmmm
side, many holes here
rear
notice it was a double door panel once...
I couldnt believe it , what a shame, what a waste.
Watch it Tim youll get the windowed panel people upset, I did a few weeks ago.
Doing that to a panel has just more than halved its value in my books.
I would buy it for parts only.
Here we go, wait for the flack.
Cheers
Dave
Looks like the one in the paddock tim...dont let tim near it, he'll try and cut the steering wheel off...myabe the plans are to weld in new panels and return it to its former glory...
yeh maybe, maybe they dont even know it was a panel. i think it came from gosford by the way. hope it stays in newcastle either way, love splittys
Yes that would be me Dave.Frankly i get a bit sick of them being bagged coz i have one.Yes we all know that you would never touch one etc....etc.....but it does shit me that you say they're all shit & thats that.Surely its better to save a split (chopped panel or not)than to have them all go to god.I personally hate grey & would never paint my split such a boring colour but i can still appreciate it & all the work you put in ¬ bag it coz & the end of the day its a split!!I spose we'll have to just agree to disagree coz this whole argument is getting very boring!
Nothing that wrong with them.
If it still drives, what the problem???
Its in the same boat as people who install extra dial/guages in their dashs, or fit a late pan to an early bug shell, narrow a beam, etc etc etc. if
someone is willing to keep one on th road, who really cares what they do to 'Their' car. its not yours, so why be concerned??
Now, if we rolled by you rplace Tim and started hacking .... just kidding.
btw, want to u2u you about importing, catch you later this week?
Splitty chick, dont take things so seriously, I think your van is looking really good, but we have our own opinions, I have mine and you have yours,
thats what makes the world go round.
If we were all just going to praise each other for our likes then the world would be a boring place.
It is my opinion and believe it or not but I am allowed to have one.
Yes I would rather see a split, of any type on the road, but I still cannot admit to liking what some people have done to them.
We have had posts locked because others were saying negative things about a certain beetle, but if that is their opinion they should be able to state
it.
Edited because I cant spell

Dave.i understand that everyone has they're own opinion which is what i am stating also.
When i bought my splitty i didn't know anything about them really just that i'd driven a couple of bays & dreamt of one day owning a split. As i
never saw any on the road & didn't know about places like this forum to learn about them i went ahead & purchased my girl.In hindsight i
possibly would have purchased one with "original" windows but as i didn't know better at the time i ended up with a converted panel.I love my bus
heaps & just find it a little disheartning that converted panels get such a bagging even though they're still a splitty.I agree that everyone is
entitled to they're opinion but i also try to take a positive approach & appreciate that someone that loves they're ride & has put in alot
of love & work into it possibly doesn't need people bagging them & does deserve some respect.
If i was about to cut up a panel these days i can understand that people would bag me but as i'm saving a beloved split of any kind should be a good
thing.
I actually said that i "possibly" would have got an original windowed bus.I also wanted a poptop & i'm sure people would have a problem with me
putting a poptop in a bus that didnt already have one as this one does. The poptop is also not "original".I actually love the fact that my bus looks
totally different to any other I have seen.
Frenzix I wouldn't put windows in a panel now but i also didn't put the windows in the one i have,it was done 30 yrs ago & i think its hard to
say what one would have done when there were busses everywhere back in the 60's & 70's especially as this was before i was born. Its fair to say
you think its sacrificial to find a double door panel with windows in it because they are now rare & worth some money whereas back when they were
done it wasn't the case.
Anyway guys i was just letting you know that there are afew of us out there with these types of splittys & even though they are not so "rare"
or worth as much as others we still love our rides as much as everyone else. After all its the fact that so many panels got windows cut in them the
makes the existing panels worth so much!!
TRUCE......:thumb
Good comments.
Any way, just have fun doing your bus and wait till you drive it, you dont need to install a stereo as you wouldnt hear it as you will be laughing too
much as it is so much fun driving a split.

Dave
Whats wrong with grey!!!!!!
Only joking.
Sorry i think i was just a little hurt & lashing out!Your bus looks great. I'm painting mine purple so you can probably see why i thought grey is a little dull.....:thumb:thumb:thumb
