That was me ;) unfortunately on the way to the mechanics with some bad news :( motor is up shite creek.

I have some big decisions to make in the next couple of days… Can you guys give me some encouragement? ;)

Twokombies - September 7th, 2005 at 06:04 PM

Hellbus had an 1800 lump for sale for quite a while, check him out and see if he still has it. He is a Melbourne dubber like you.

haha thanks fellas, yeah i have u2u'd helbus and the motor is still for sale, unfortunately he flew to cuba or something this morning and won’t be back for a month.

I am trying to turn this into a positive by taking the time to build a nice motor and while the bus is not running might as well paint her too.

the only problem is the bank manager...

I am asking for a raise at work tomorrow and if successful I will see it as a sign to go ahead with the plan ;)

Twokombies - September 7th, 2005 at 06:53 PM

why don't you spend the month fixing the paint and slot the hellbus motor in next month?
It is the entire engine for $500, a bargain I reckon.

oh what a bugger.. busted mtr.. :(
if you happen to want to pension it off in its broken state
i'd be too happy to look after it ;) :D
no harm in askin/tryin..
cheers paul
U2U me if your up for it... :D

wezley - September 7th, 2005 at 09:23 PM

yeah, helbus's engine is defienately a option, I am just considering going the whole hog and getting an engine I know is built well and has warranty etc.

I don't have a great deal of knowledge or work space so i will be paying for labour either way.

I am not sure what condition my engine is in, but you are welcome to the salvagable parts, i am in melbourne of course so postage may kill you..

it makes me smile to know the parts will live on somewhere else :)

Twokombies - September 7th, 2005 at 11:23 PM

What motor have you got in it now? I h doesn't take up your offer I'm lookin for a 1600 to practice rebuilding. I can come up to Melbourne and pick it up from you if you like.

wezley - September 8th, 2005 at 09:51 AM

There is currently an 1800 in it.. they have given me a bit more time to make a decision.

choo - September 8th, 2005 at 11:54 AM

I don't know wezley, sounds like the party's over.
Hell of a ride while it lasted though....hey?
500 bucks.
you know where to fine me.

choo - September 8th, 2005 at 11:55 AM

or possibly 'find' me

wezley - September 8th, 2005 at 12:09 PM

maybe you could use that 500 to getyour bus back??

oh by the way mate is it cool if i use your dining room table for the rebuild? ;) shouldn't take more than 3 months

rustycamper - September 8th, 2005 at 07:44 PM

Is that your bus that is normally parked just off Park St in North Fitzroy wezley?

If so I admire it most days on my way to work, I live on White St and drive a blue and white bay.

wezley - September 9th, 2005 at 09:09 AM

nice ;) good to hear from another local. i remember a post from you awhile back talking about a good local body shop? Do you remember where it is?

rustycamper - September 9th, 2005 at 04:05 PM

Yeah, it is Euro Car Crash Repairs at 300 Lygon St (just north of Glenlyon Rd). ph. 9387 9027. The guys name is George.

I tried a bunch of places around here but since it was a pretty small job they were all pretty uninterested and some just clearly didnt want to work on old cars. I drove past this place and George was working on this nice red Mustang and was really interested in my bus when he saw it and did a really nice job and great colour match.

Cheers
Tim

well my bus will be off the road for a few months, but rest assured it will be back bigger and better!
