twoguns - October 15th, 2005 at 10:45 AM

dont think so sam. its getting pretty general. i have a hiace up this way... matt black with similiar treatment. i passed a hiace with a gothic sorta theme on the freeway on the way home yesterday.

i have been trying to talk my nephew into a 80s torago... with all the skylights etc. sort the euivialnt to the splits of hte 60s. and for him it is with in his budget.

baybuscamperkid - October 15th, 2005 at 11:45 AM

mate, dont talk him into a tarago, unless its real new. have you ever driven one of those things? they make a split feel safe. the ones i have driven have been gutless, the frames until the late 80's? were more crude then the bay kombis, and on a mates ealry 90s turbo diesel 4x4 the brakes are a joke, beetle sized single pot disks on the front and drums on the rear! maybe an import custom hiace instead, i hear they are a lot better.

Tarago's are my sworn enemy on the roads... they always seem to be jumping in front of me and getting in my way... lucky for me my beast of a standard engined kombi can outrun them MWAHAHAHAHA!!!! :P

I believe that in the UK people are getting into Historic People Mover Racing...but seriously why would you bother? You can't polish a turd. (Jackie Gleeson, Smokey and the Bandit). Next well see a T3 gone matt black. I'm also not sure about the degree of difference between a Rat, Rat Rod and a Hood Ride ... seems that Rat/Rod is more of a Beetle/Type 3 thing than a bus thing, and Buses seem to fit more into Hoodride (as per http://www.hoodride.com ). But that's not to say that the owner of a Rat Bus would agree. When is a Rat, just a sh_tbox trying to be cool? - maybe it's all in the eye of the beholder. It's all getting very confusing..but I don't think you can 'pimp' a Kia and make it cool anymore than a Tarago. But no doubt someone will prove me wrong (again).

That is a slap in the face for anyone wearing a Hoodride stencil on their dub!

WA Volksrodder - December 30th, 2005 at 10:20 PM

I hope so....!!!!!!!!!!:cussing

Schmoburger - December 31st, 2005 at 03:58 PM

That Commo' is teh sux!... like, OK, I was gonna pimp mine a bit a while back, but then thought.. why bother???... sure, I admit they look awsome if ya do it right (that POS up top is NOT RIGHT!!!)... but it dont make the car any less shite... still rates as a feeble attempt to polish a turd... hehe... love that phrase... and that makes two occurrences of it now :D

Basically, you pimp a Kombi... you is t3H_5h1T... OOHH YEAAAH... on the other hand, pimp a Commodore, you is FULLY SICK BRO'!!!... YECH... FULLY SICK is an insult that is deserving of the one who utters it being plastered by arediculously lowered Kombi! (cue the Helbus :punk:)

As for the Tarago's... BUUURN BURRRN BUUURN!!!!!... SACRIFICE TO THE DAKDAK-DEITIES!!!! :jesus

I saw a shit Tarago afew months back with friggin' HYDRAULICS!!!! ARGH!!!:repuke

People is really takin this rat-rod thing WAAAAAY too far... serious... Sigmas, Tarago's and Datsun 1300's with bling???? WTF :(

Schmoburger - December 31st, 2005 at 04:06 PM

Hmmm... that van appears to be a later Mitsubishi L300 or a Ford Econovan.... or maybe an earlyish Hiace.

I got my mony oin L300 tho...

boristherat - March 20th, 2006 at 10:08 PM

Definately a L300

L for lame and 300 for how many metres high the cliff should be that it drives off.
:puke

Joel - March 20th, 2006 at 10:54 PM

its a long wheel base express van 2.4l to be exact probably a 89-90 model
there the kindda cars ppl point and laugh at

Joel

crazyfiggi - March 22nd, 2006 at 07:15 PM

I think they are great. Seems like a good way to have a car that you can build on an extreamly tight budget and break away from the norm. The van looks like it hauls a dirt bike round in the back for sure.
Alex.

baybuscamperkid - March 27th, 2006 at 04:05 PM

not half as bad as i expected. what do you think outside people think of a late beetle dropped on its pan, or the insane chamber on the rear of madly lowered bugs?

Schmoburger - April 4th, 2006 at 12:54 PM

well..to be honest..i dont think much of lowered swing axle bugs either..anymore than i do commodores... and superbugs and l-bugs look crap which ever way you look at them... no offence intended to anyone who owns one.. each to his/her own! :tu:

The commodore I could JUST live with... only JUST tho... but Im afraid I cant agree with you guys on the Lame 300ft cliff van... it just looks terrible whichever light I look at it in... very very sickening.. :puke:

baggedbug68 - April 18th, 2006 at 11:18 PM

i like the camber on the rear of my 68 bug when i drop it on its guts (but each to there own). As for those cars they are sooo yuk its just not funny(my opinion). not that i want to get into a debate about rat style as i will look at any car done right and think it looks good no matter what style it falls under.but spew to the dunnydoor and the cliff van:puke
