Did'nt VW send dubs to Australian Antarctica bases in the 60's or 70's???? Did it have a logo and/or a number on the door, how do you know it may be one???

Keep an eye out for the T2 Single Cab with the Antarctica symbol on the doors. It may turn up in the least unexpected place like the Australian GP for Motor Bikes with a very well known ex GP rider sitting behind the steering wheel.
Yes, there were Vws in Antarctica but they were only Beetles and not T2.

Yes the two beetles sent to Antartica were painted
"antartica white" which was the white colour that Australian made VWs came in....

[from memory]

never heard of any type 2s going down there....

3 beetles went to Antartica. 1 x ruby red 1 x orange (so they could be seen easily from the air if they became stranded) and a scientist shipped in a modified yellow oval which went through the ice and almost took 2 of them with it. do not believe any kombis made it to the base.

Could be another Steve Muir creation. I'm pretty sure he played a large part in the Antartica replicas done about 7 years or so back. From memory the replicas were sold overseas.
