Hey guys

Hadn't driven by bug in a while and giving it a decent dressing down I noticed a few (what I think are) rusty bubbles popping up!

Is there anything I can do to slow this down? And am I stuffed already? I don't exactly have the funds right now to strip it back and repaint etc!

Bad prep under paint!
Yeah you should be worried.
If you don't have any cash atm your best bet would be to get a colour match of your paint in a can and grind out the affected areas, repair, treat and paint.
Won't be perfect but will help to keep it at bay until you can afford to do it properly.

Yep, it will only get worse unfortunately, and will no doubt be in more areas. Bob's right, bad or nil prep is the cause

I had bubbles in the exact same spot on the side of my bonnet. They had been there for a while, slowly growing. So i decided to sand back the paint and found a big hollow hole fille with bog from the previous owner/repairer. I removed all the bog and filled with metal filler for now. I'll take a pic if you like to show you the extent. But as others have said, it wont look good under there.

What you see is only a portion of what it's like underneath the paint.
Start saving especially for the body cause if its your daily, it won't pass rego unfortunately......

If you can find a solid body, get that prepped and painted, then swap it for the rusty body.

It is like it is because the metal is all gone underneath, right through. The section of metal has to be cut out and replaced and then protected.

on the up side - the worst of it is in the bonnet

Get yourself a new bonnet and paint it matt black.
Sort of matches everything

The rest of it seems to be in the gutters
I cant see a fold line - meaning it has had repairs before that have been finished off with a wipe of bog

Maybe taking the headlining out and putting lanolin in the channel from the inside would help slow it??

I'm not super fussed about the bonnet, as I can get another one or what not haha

Anyone have any idea how pricey it is to get the gutters looked at?

Also a decent place?
