VW Patina Friendly panel beater - Sydney
petemart - August 20th, 2014 at 04:10 PM

Hi All

I'm looking for a panel beater who can give me a quote so I can take an old c*cks$cker who lives in the next street who backed into me and took off to try to get away with it while I was watching.

I've told him $340 would cover it - $90 for a complete headlight and handle and $250 to cover panel labour.

He's now ignoring me and I've had it out with him on the street as he tries to walk past me like nothing has happened and he believes I'm exagurating the damage/cost so I guess the only way is court.

The dents aren't huge, but thats not the point is it?
I need a formal quote to beat the dent and blend the Black down low as I want to retain the OG black paint and patina higher up.

I've been to a few guys around here (Eastern Sydney) who told me they are not interested and it adds character..

Anyone know any panel shops/hotrodders who have oldschool skills who can do it AND formally quote??

Cheers

Paintless dent repair? They would probably get it out without having to touch the paint.

I agree with rickp, I reckon you could get that dent out - no paint work required. I know a guy who is very good. His name is Jamie King. I not sure what you classify as Eastern Sydney (eastern suburbs?) but he is from North Shore and services down to city etc. well anywhere really for a price i guess.
His number is 0452203502. I had him work on the hood of my Merc. He knows his onions….
Your headlight rim and glass look salvageable?

I've repaired worse than that over the years, without painting. If you get desparate, and you you feel like a run to Bowral, I'll fix it for you - no charge. Warning....Although I have patina, I'm not all that friendly. :smirk:

There are a few tricks to avoid damaging the paint when using a hammer and dolly.

that dent looks a little to deep/crisp for a paintless repair imo because i'm thinking there will be some stretching,I'd be taking a trip to bowral.Go see old mate tell him $300 cash and it's over $200 for fuel $100 for food and beverages for ypu and ol number 8 and you also get to watch how it's done.

Thanks for the replies and I'm liking the idea of a roadtrip to Bowral and learning how it's done (Greg you were killing it at the lap dashes at Valla), but I need a quote to sort the old boy out legally as he seems to be from the 'what you gunna do about it?' school of f wits.

I'll give a few of those dentless repairs mobs and Jamie King a call to see how far I get.

Cheers
