I'm getting a 64 Beetle and it's a rust bucket. I will weld in replacement steel but I need to know what's best for killing and sealing the rust you can't get to. The cancer will be everywhere so I'll need to treat inside the roof channels etc otherwise the rust will keep affecting it. What's the best product and how do I get it into all of the nooks and crannys?
Unfortunatley you will never kill or stop rust. If it is made of iron, I assure it will rust.
Older cars were made of bare sheet metal spot welded together and then painted. There is no coverage or rust prevention between panels or inside boxed
sections.
Later car body shells were dipped in an electrolytic coating bath, and everywhere is covered.
How many 20 year old cars (from 1995) do you see rusted these days? They are E-coated. In 1985, there were rusty 60's and even 70's cars in
abundance, as they were not E-coated.
So your best option is to spray body cavity wax in as may areas as you can get to. You may even have to drill some 13mm holes in hidden places to
spray it, and put rubber bungs in the holes. That is about as much as you can do.
