Hey guys.
We have put our 1976 kombi T2 in the shop to get the lower sliding door track replaced, and long story short the job came back with a door that
doesn't close properly (from a badly manufactured tp sill/track) and a weld join at the rear. We have already taken it back to the shop as the first
time we got it back, it would hardly open all the way because of the weld.
What are our options?
We would like to find a proper precise body shop near Sydney who could fix this hell. Any recomendations?
(The details: We provided the parts except the top sill/track bit which had to be manufactured. It looks like they did not replace the full length,
leaving a join at the rear about 30cms in from the end. The manufactured top sill with the track was done very roughly, so when you go to close the
door, it is about an inch too far out. You have to push the door in at the bottom and then close it. They have bent the track in and out along the
full length to make it fit, so realistically, this top track/sill would have to be re-manufactured properly and put in again if we want it to last
more than a year. The overall quality is very sloppy with loose unwelded sections, bent everywhere, holes from welding, etc. The paint on the door
has been messed up with some chemicals, the bumper bar was snapped off while in the shop and the welds are really rough and the paint hasn't been
fixed. So we are not in a hurry to take it back to this guy a third time.)
Any helpful advise would be appreciated.
Cheers
That is what the Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Council was for,I believe it has now been integrated into the Department of fair Trading, check the Govt entries in the phone book and ask them for advice on how to proceed with a claim against the repairer.
Ok thanks.
We have lodges forms to the Department of fair Trading.
And we'll try to take it to either Indian Automotive, Wayne Penrose or EastCoast Kombis to get this sorted.
Cheers
